12/11/2023 13:10 | Yes I had suspected the conservatory could be the cause and it's the front two rooms that face North that steam up, its no big shakes wiping the water off and is only when pretty cold Make the mrs a cup tea, I used to have one of those lol | ![]() 2gekko
12/11/2023 08:49 | Good Morning. It is frosty again. You must have a source of damp somewhere and if other windows are not getting misted up then in the conservatory is most likely itself. As you have checked most things indoors try checking outside for signs of damp. However usually if it is coming in from outside especially at ground level. Might be worth buying a cheap damp meter to check all around the house for sources but my suspicion would be the supporting walls for the conservatory or even the floor around the edges. Oh look at the time, I better go make the Mrs J a cup of tea or will be in trouble.....again. | ![]() jonjonck
12/11/2023 08:33 | Morning It's a nuisance and I don't know why it happens, house was fully ventilated yesterday and heating was on last night, the air vent isn't blocked and I don't dry clothes in the house, it only takes a minute to wipe them off but it's not good | ![]() 2gekko
11/11/2023 17:58 | That is not good if you are getting the windows soaking all the time. | ![]() jonjonck
11/11/2023 08:54 | Morning I put some things from the wash basket along the bottom of the window and this morning no difference at all and the windows soaked, I guess it will have to be a dehumidifier or one of those Karcher things, it's only when the tempature goes below five degrees | ![]() 2gekko
11/11/2023 07:30 | Management are very unreliable these days and never know when he/she/him/her/them/ Good morning. Cannot get over how much warmer the living room is in the morning. Still retaining heat from last night. All because of a few small gaps needing sealed. | ![]() jonjonck

10/11/2023 18:12 | Son in law x copper has looked on utube at replacing windows (glass/ argon filled ) their 20 plus year old windows. He's replaced 4 rooms. one small open one fixed and one big opening for one room cost about £300 per room. I think he bought units from a company near Ipswich. He has had to fit from the outside on the fixed window but for easy fixing he removed the opening windows and worked on the bench. I say x copper as he is not brilliant at diy but will always have a go. | ![]() rovi70
10/11/2023 17:03 | When putting new rubber seal in you need to compress it along its length as you push into place, if it is stretched when fitting as commonly happens then it will shrink back at the ends over the years. | ![]() jonjonck
10/11/2023 16:59 | Could they be under 10 years old... a lot of windows have a 10 year guarantee. Double glazing is quite simple. You pull out the rubber from the removable trim and then the trim is pushed in towards the pane and can be unclipped by lifting it up. You can buy replacement rubber seal and is available from most glaziers and many outlets on Amazon or Ebay. You just need to know the size and is not very expensive. Best way to remove the trim is actually a wood chisel, just press it in a bit and lever the rubber up at one end, then grab it and pull it out. | ![]() jonjonck
10/11/2023 16:23 | My Allen keys are Snap on from my grease monkey days, I've had a look at the windows and there is a trim along the bottom edge where the window meets the sill and you can feel cold there, I shall prise it off as I suspect it's not sealed properly behind it, windows were already here when I bought the house | ![]() 2gekko
10/11/2023 15:31 | The 6mm is a long one because it was on offer much cheaper than standard and I was going to cut it shorter and reinsert the bit but never got around to it as may be useful being left long. | ![]() jonjonck
10/11/2023 15:27 | I have ordered another Allen key bit 1/4 drive to add to my selection of Allen key sockets. I bought a 4mm earlier in week and Amazon have given me a £5 promotion and so I now ordered a 3mm. I am slowly getting all the different sizes. These are supplied by a company called Welzh in Gretna and are professional quality impact rated. I really like their tools but are not cheap. | ![]() jonjonck
10/11/2023 12:04 | If the sealed units have condensation inside it can be fixed but is laborious and time consuming but can be done. I assume they have run out of any warranty. | ![]() jonjonck
10/11/2023 08:51 | Morning I sealed mine with silicone during summer as they were conensated when it's below five degrees but they still are despite airing the house, I think the seal whic is part of the glass are perished so may need new units | ![]() 2gekko
10/11/2023 07:40 | Good Morning. We have a frost this morning. When I resurface the window ledge I realised there was quite a draught coming in from around it. I sealed up the gaps and it has made a huge difference to the room temperature this morning. | ![]() jonjonck
