Afternoon all,FFP regarding the flu jab , everytime I waltz in to the doc's surgery about this time of year they are ever so nice and offer me a flu jab , and, I politely point out to them that, 1) this years flu jab is based on the previous years flu virus , which , in the time it has taken them to produce the vaccine the virus in the meantime has mutated into this years strain. 2) By not having the flu the previous year the bodies defences are basically o.k. so why do you want to introduce a pathogen which your body already has defences for? , if you get a cold it gives your body the opportunity to re-act and produce antibodies against it , there is the argument that if you have a pre existing condition it will provide some protection.Eyewash. If you have a pre -existing condition by introducing this pathogen you are weakening the bodies immune system even further making it harder to fight anything else that comes along ( like a mutated flu virus ). I'm of the opinion that if you eat and exercise properly any virus that comes along will be eventually taken care of by the body without, hopefully , any medical intervention.

No problem truing them up, I have the knack. ....I hope I still have it anyway.

Just placed an order for Stainless steel double butted spokes and also stainless brake and gear cables and a few other small parts.

I could never do that ...the days of my Claud Butler (real one)
Mafac brakes (centre pull), campagnolo gears , quick release hubs and "tubs" are long gone . Amazed what I remember !
Doubt if all that lot cost more than £20

Good Morning.
My Mum will be fine. She seems to be coping. My Brother is up to high doe and in more of a state about it than Mum. What a good son he is being very concerned while I phone Mum and just laugh at what she has done for being so stupid and point out the bright side it could have been a lot worse.

I shall phone her later and check she is Ok but she seems to be treating it as just another challenge of life. Not her usual moaning minnie self at all which is good.

Re Bike. Have decided to rebuild the wheels with alloy hubs and new stainless steel spokes. Found some old hubs which are quite good condition, bearings a bit worn but will swap the bearings over from old hubs as I think they will fit....just need to order some spokes after I calculate the lengths needed. Love building cycle wheels and truing them up and does not take long.
