From the recent price moves Maximillian your theory about buying to loan to shorters seems on the money! Arghh..... shouldn't be allowed, but hopefully they will start to close and then there will be a good bounce at least! Lesson to self, sell at the slightest hint of hiccups in the business. One day I might learn.

who do a lot of research..worth looking at there web site... as I just have.......Interaction with management.... a key part of there strategy ..wonder if Crystal Amber brought them in...looking for a US buyer maybe !!!!

Hotchkis and Wiley Capital Management,LLC started the year off with around a 5% holding in THT and today announced that they have bought more taking them to 8%, 9%. Pehaps they know something we don't but with continued buying will hopefully come a positive shareprice soon! This week should hopefully be a great week for THT and I hope that this is reflected in the price in due course & they have no nasty wareshouse supply issues etc... Fingers crossed!

Did you see any cadbury, mars/galaxy or any other brand names on the shelves? Thorntons brand going mainstream is the plan as I understand it, (or Poundland going upmarket). THT get to access all areas at different quailty levels and price points, it all generates revenue.


Getting set for V-Day, should be busy next week.

thorntons going head to head with cadbury, galaxy with new chocholate bars. Available in local shops and supermarkets, an all year rounder for revenue and mass market too.

Still a big buyer in the background imo.

It seems like a no brainer goodapple - the British branding etc. Especially for the foreign markets where people like the cachet of British products as well as ex-pats who want a taste of home. Surely it was worth forking out on a bit of stateside PR and using the story to do a few deals.

From what im reading, Seems like the major supermarkets are pushing branded products stronger than ever to gain back custom. if they win that war and get more customers back through the doors, and they will, then improvement in customer numbers improves the retail sales prospects for thorntons products.

I think thornton own stores will continue to perform well thanks to the high street revival.

From what ive seen all the big four have made progress, and as more money flows the more people will return to the big supermarkets.

aldi lidl ok for certain things but not evrything.

Hotchkis hoovering up again?

Max, Brand name, factory, new systems, distribution network and established shop network should be worth double in a bid or buyout scinario. Add in the international growth prospects and further oppertunities to expand in as yet unfathomed areas., its attractive to one of the major food and drink co s.

I wonder do they fill a little niche between cadbury's, nestle etc and then the much much more expensive Hotel Chocolate Leonidas Butlers etc.

I think they're nice to give as a little gift when you don't want to splash out forty pounds or so.

I noticed yesterday that the big classics boxes were selling at £2.50 instead of £12 in my local Thorntons discount shop. Best before 28 Feb. will have to hurry up and eat them quickly :)

Possible..but would have thought,they would want them to get there house a bit more in order first...I see this down to 62p and that would look about right on the chart...then a fast push up to near 200..

Do not think as a chocolate maker they are as good as they used to be..as good as Hotel Chocolate ..that is.....

But they a much cheaper and aimed at a different market..shall we say the less thinking buyer..imo

Hart is doing a good job ..my target 222...well we have to dream a little.

Off course a bid would change things..Name has great value..how do you value it as a bid?
