19/1/2015 13:30 | Not as bad as it could have been that is for sure. We might start to recover from here. Hope so. | lauders
19/1/2015 13:09 | Consumers have more money in their pockets now with lower fuel prices and growing wages, so can afford to treat themselves. Plus the high street is a busier place now, so expect lovers to spend on an extra special gift on valentines, kids will get a bigger easteregg, and mum gets to enjoy a deluxe box of thorntons.. Growth in the international market looks impresive to at 20%. Can see that continuing. Sounds like their spring offerings are ready to go, and the system is ready to roll. | kmann
19/1/2015 10:46 | "turning up here"In retail LFL.......pity their strategy is FMCG, duh.DD | discodave4
19/1/2015 09:10 | Also share price currently less than half of year high. | nigelmoat
19/1/2015 09:09 | For me this is a good re entry point. They will learn from their errors and I think resume growth | nigelmoat
19/1/2015 09:05 | A mixed bag, pick and mix even, will see how this settles over the next few days I think. | uppompeii
19/1/2015 08:09 | turning up here The Retail division experienced strong like-for-like sales growth of 5.0% for the quarter as shopper demand for Thorntons’ inlaid boxes, seasonal specialities and advent calendars all contributed to an encouraging season culminating in an outstanding 7.8% increase in like-for-like sales during December (1st - 24th), highlighting the strength of our brand and product offering. | dlku
19/1/2015 07:22 | H1 sales down £11.4m on the previous year, with no obvious reason to believe H2 sales will be better than last year. Looks like the broker forecasts are ludicrously optimistic. All IMHO, DYOR. No position in THT. | shanklin
19/1/2015 07:17 | Good and bad in the trading update. Overall I'm quite happy. Let's see if the market agrees in 45 minutes ! | kidknocked
18/1/2015 19:40 | Thorntons reports tomorrow. I have created a Weekly Thread to watch charts of companies reporting on any given day. Mainly for my own use but hope others will find it useful too. | j l
18/1/2015 18:21 | Good luck all tomorrow. | blondeamon
18/1/2015 14:02 | Indeed I hold, and am under water to a fair depth! | goodapple
18/1/2015 13:31 | I guessed so but could not remember the poster so had a good idea you would confirm it. Let's see what happens. If you hold good luck. Think we will need it! | lauders
18/1/2015 13:29 | It's just that having done a bit of brand development in my day job, this screams out as an obvious course for Thorntons to take. Not least because Cadburys can no longer brag about their Britishness now they've sold out to the Americans. What a gift!! | goodapple
18/1/2015 13:03 | Errrr.... That was me too. | goodapple
18/1/2015 12:45 | That may well be a good idea goodapple. Think I remember from another thread or website someone mentioning that and that they suggested it to the management of the company only to be "turned down". Who knows, they might listen soon if more shake-ups are needed! The idea might become reality after all ;-) | lauders
18/1/2015 10:06 | Crystal Amber mention the " century old British brand..." But Thorntons are very reluctant to capitalise on it. Roll out the Union Jack ( tastefully )on every Thorntons wrapper, box, shop and advert. Do it. | goodapple |
