In this case , the current Company is effectively wound up.
They pay to zero.

Thomas Cook airlines ARE a budget airline, personally I've flown with them about 10 times in the past couple of years and haven't paid more than £70 for any flight and generally pay around £30 for a flight to the Spanish mainland.

Maybe their problem is that they don't advertise or market their airline enough as I know in my area most people automatically think of Ryanair, Easyjet or Jet2 before even giving TCG a thought.

It will be FAR from debt free.
I estimate at least 1 Billion of debt remains.

How they split the cash up ?? who knows.

Also a separate company owing the airline is fraught with issues.

Any chance i would invest her IF they get the deal through ?? NO NO NO

My point is that a debt free, restructured group with loss making stops shut and slimmed down can continue trading. The equity still wiped out obviously.

But turn over won't be £9b once the Company has been broken up - which is what's happening.
Also, it's likely to be delisted and taken private.

I'm no expert but the high street shop and package holiday does seem to be being replaced by the budget airline and airBnB model even at the lower end. Plus the weak pound must be causing further issues.

Having said that turn over is 9bn so I guess if debt free and restructuring works out they can soldier on.

In my opinion if they are rescued there will not be enough money to sort the mess out.

It needed to go to get rid of the shops etc.
They are just papering over the cracks.

Bookings and as such cash inflow must have dried up.

One thing I've never understood is why not go for a pre-pack to get rid of rent liabilities for all these loss making shops. Sure they keep the listing but its not worth much compared to all the loss making shop leases. I can only assume that possibly these are all at a sub-co level and not the top co anyway so its not that easy to wriggle out of them with a top co pre-pack.

Whether they would be protected or not - just think of the worry and stress once TCG going into Administration is all over the television news.

So why woukd The Civil Aviation Authority be making contingency plans in the event of Thomas Cook collapse ? Surely they would not waste their time
