That 2.5m trade was likely just an amalgamation of earlier sells placed through broker dark pools - these can be booked at LSE after close as an off book trade and it is usual practice amongst hedge funds.
It was short selling during trading hours in plain sight on the LSE Automated L2 book that was unusual.
Either way either more short positions added or the price just being managed?
Rather disheartening given last week’s results and possible bids on the horizon? Up early but down hard later in the day as yesterday.
Previously I have sold and bought back lower but right now at 102.45p and with all the recent events that seems like an extremely dangerous strategy?

Time will tell what’s really going on?

As the new Chairman hasn’t bought any shares after the close period ending I assume they are now having active conversations with at least one potential bidder?

The fact that it was close to the lows of the day indicates a worked sell not a buy. FWIW.

Someone opening a new short from lunchtime.
Timing suggests it was from NY as before?
Given all the chatter about a possible imminent bid I am surprised especially as this time there was no attempt to disguise it?
Unusually done in plain sight through the LSE automated book.
Normally hedge funds etc disguise their short selling so as not to discourage buying.
Possibly someone just keeping the price from rising?
Let’s see what happens tomorrow?

I remember GEC which was cash rich and making plenty of chunky profits not like this company.

Once the share price sin ks to below £1 again it could be on a bearish streak.
