21/11/2024 20:27 | crumpot, it is probably a shareholder who has to sell, we forget the average daily turnover is nearly nothing so in a poor general market the only way to find a buyer is to offer down. Like you I think they are trading well and they say they have corrected the delivery problems of last year. | harry_david
21/11/2024 19:06 | Any thoughts as to why it keeps dropping? I think they are trading ok from what I am hearing and seeing | crumppot
21/11/2024 18:43 | 4 year low I think. | chinahere
21/11/2024 18:22 | 52 week low today. Let’s hope for a positive Xmas | noisy2
03/11/2024 11:29 | My feeling is it will be better this year. People still have money to spend this Christmas | crumppot
03/11/2024 04:28 | Last year the statement was really a profit downgrade, we don't want another one. | harry_david
02/11/2024 16:23 | The next statement is due 25 January | crumppot
02/11/2024 15:03 | My broker thinks an update is unlikely at this time partly because the year end figures were only recently and he thinks most retailers should report after Christmas as that is the key time. | harry_david
02/11/2024 13:12 | Did anyone go to the AGM ? How did it go ? And are we expecting a ‘trading update’ in the next week or so ? | noisy2
21/10/2024 10:10 | Yes, I was thinking the shares ended up in treasury so would reduce those issued but perhaps I am wrong and they are kept 'live'. | chinahere
21/10/2024 08:13 | Public information reports that retailers generally are seeing reasonable sales figures and the company in their recent report noted that the first 21 weeks trading in the current year was satisfactory. If they achieve their stated target for the year the shares will prove to have been an absolute bargain. Nobody goes out on a limb like that so early in the year unless they are completely confident of beating their forecast figure. | harry_david
21/10/2024 07:37 | But surely the purchase by the EBT doesn't reduce the issued shares? I cant understand why the price keeps falling. I am going to go the AGM next week. | crumppot
20/10/2024 16:58 | Recent RNS: "The Company has been notified by the Trustee of the TheWorks.co.uk Employee Benefit Trust (the "EBT") that on 2 October 2024 the EBT purchased a total of 1,184,549 ordinary shares of 1 penny each in the Company (the "Shares") at a price of 25.2 pence per share" | chinahere
20/10/2024 16:43 | Could anyone please explain, I see the shares in issue figure has decreased from 62,500000 to 60,210000. Is this a ‘share buyback’ or something else ? I also note the share price has been dropping ?I would have thought with less shares in issue, the price would have increased. | noisy2
04/10/2024 09:52 | Thanks harry_david, I agree with you on all the points and do like this company as an operation but until the economic effect cycles around to small company shares the only thing I can see lifting the price materially is a takeover; volume has also dropped off. It's common at the moment for many UK shares not just Small Caps, but I am hoping to be proved wrong. | binghall
02/10/2024 15:41 | Binghall, somebody likes them, institutional type turnover today. My personal take is that they are a very good punt. This report shows that there has been a lot of work to tidy up systems, cut back on loss making activities, tidy up the poorer retail outlets and generally get ready for Christmas. I bought a few more a month or two back and if they deliver will be well placed. | harry_david
01/10/2024 17:27 | I'd say that, good or bad, there is just no appetite for small company shares in the present climate from institutional investors. If history repeats, I suspect we will only see meaningful movements when the economic cycle is on a continued upwards growth path. I've held for a few years and can't see much interest in The Works (or other similar sized companies) until we see a maturing growth phase in the UK economy. Apart from major news, I'll just watch and wait. | binghall
01/10/2024 07:07 | So why has the share price fallen? | crumppot
01/10/2024 06:43 | Definite progress after the very poor Christmas trading. Need to keep it up. Forecast for this year is gutsy so early, must be doing well sofar. | harry_david
01/10/2024 06:28 | store payroll increased cca 4 mil and that is it problems similar to card | kaos3
01/10/2024 06:20 | crux to me Evolved our brand to fulfil our purpose - to inspire reading, learning, creativity and play - commencing a project to make our brand positioning clearer. .... | kaos3
03/9/2024 03:24 | No broker updates that i can see, full year results on 1st Oct (expected by Stocko) | simmsc
02/9/2024 12:25 | Something is happening here by the look of it. | chinahere
08/8/2024 18:04 | A private individual committing to owning 5% of a company in my opinion has a greater meaning than a diversified fund buying a 5%-10% stake. Thumbs up from me. | simmsc |
