It was a buy so maybe the reality of 527 stores and a £20m market cap is resonating with some….

The problem is that there are only large firms that will do this sort of work and they are all expensive. The LSE needs to help smaller companies find auditors, otherwise companies will delist.

Not just KPMG. Delays everywhere.

As you said KPMG probably being extra cautious after being fined £1m over FY20 audit:
"the FRC said the audit conducted by KPMG was marred by a series of flaws such as a failure to respond appropriately to variances in stock counts identified during controls testing, and a failure to conduct the appropriate roll-forward and roll-back procedures."

This has happened in at least three of my holdings. The auditors are ultra cautious now as one auditor got screwed with a fine not so long ago.

I agree, the immediate reaction is that the company must be partly to blame, but on reading the announcement again it is clear the company have been caught by a very panic stricken auditor that has already received one too many fines

How can KPMG make such a mess of the results, they audit loads of other companies. It is extremely poor and the board of the Works should be asking for a reduced fee. I am sure a member of the board reads this blog!

It's not a good look for KPMG. I am reading between the lines that the company are not very happy with the delay but they are still reiterating that the guidance will still stand when the results are (finally) announced. Doesn't look great when 2 delays are announced one after the other - it can make investors nervous when there is probably no need to be. Wouldn't be surprised to see a change of auditor eventually.

This accounting delay cannot all be the fault of the auditors?
