Haha, bloody hell. Talk about Sod's law!

Oh well, good luck to you all, I hope it delivers and that DS returns cash rather than buying a chocolate teapot factory.

I am now fully out. I wish you all well and I'm sure the buy back will support the price but I no longer know what I am invested in.

They are making noises to a slower recovery in the seismic sector, the large interest payment is clear as mud and as for the other investments... well, I know little about those.

For that reason I've sold. I may be back but DS has too much of a say in what happens and that could well be anything that takes his fancy.

Reckon buyback started. I had no trouble offloading a 6-figure holding this morning.

My patience has finally gone despite the underlying valuation. We had issues in Russia a few years ago, bid failing to materialise more recently & now equipment problems with a contract. That's not forgetting the headquarters debacle.

I'm out for a nice 70% profit.

Kind regards
GHF

Buyback can now start in earnest now out of close period.See if they are going to be aggressive but trading at substantial discount to nav they can afford to pay up a bit.

JMF69,

Not quite! 'Cash at time of reporting is $4.8m'

3m of the 5m something of receivables have been paid since end of June. So add the 3m to the cash figure

For a man of words there is not a lot of info in that set. Cash a lot lower than it was, and interest of $1.3m on zero debt? How does that work? And of the other 'investments'...?

Yes, it is strange, that line doesn't appear separately in the 2016 AR even though they today say it was an $600,000 expense in 2016.

Not sure what to make of that. Good results with some bad mixed in.Hoping the buyback can continue now to support the sp

'Interest Expense of $1.3m (1H16: $0.2m) reflects accrued interest on inter company loans between the parent company and its subsidiaries.'

What on earth is that "Interest Expense"? The depreciation charge has been sharply ramped up to compensate for the new equipment bought (not that the last set of FY results mentioned that new equipment had been bought). The buyback should support the share price but you invest in Duncan at your peril.

THAL has bought another 400k LSR @ c31.5p. A strange move; but perhaps a prescient move.

Could PNG be a shell to back ARL post investment into?

JMF69,

There was a discussion earlier whether the 3rd party should have considered taking the whole company over - I imagine HE was responding to that.

Regards you expecting more selling I think the £4m buyback along with decent operational performance will support the price.

Not sure what LSR or PNG have to do with anything? Wasn't the offer just for WGP?

Buyer wouldn't want to be lumbered with LSR and PNG. Probably why they did go aggressive. DS doesn't have a blocking stake iirc.

I was a little disappointed with the outcome this morning but not disappointed enough to sell at a stupidly cheap price. I would be interested to know if the buy back will be a little more aggressive now or whether they will be passive and let the sellers come to them and mop up liquidity.

On the issue of why the buyer wouldn't make an offer for the entire company in the market, would DS's % holding block this?

Stemis,

I don't think we're short of potential catalysts:

Improved trading/Oil Price Increase
External investment in ARL
Significant Share Buyback
Further takeover activity

and of course discovery of Gold/Diamonds in PNG or a exponential increase in hunting lodge rates :-)
