22/10/2014 06:58 | If anything, the VERY long explanation just serves to make one more suspicious. | boystown
22/10/2014 06:27 | So he sells just under £3m of stock to the company trustee uses the money to buy Eastleigh ...gets 7% yield on half the property and has a mansion thrown in ...this company is certainly working well for someone!Still don't understand why a company with $20m in the bank earning presumably less than 2% feels renting a property on a 7% yield for such a long term lease as being financially the most prudent use of shareholder funds? But the very independent directors and nomad do...so that's ok!The company is now going to great lengths to justify such a cosy deal ..just a shame that no one on the board considered how such a deal would look before engaging...still questions the alignment of the chairman and other shareholders interests unnecessarily IMHO. | kooba
22/10/2014 06:08 | Interesting statement about the new lease. They are obviously stung by the accusation of poor communication. Much better clarity now about the deal. | rcturner2
17/10/2014 07:20 | "Pipeline of order-enquiry and tenders submitted increased to US$175m, an increase of 23% over US$142m at 31 December 2013. Several of these tenders expected to impact 2H 2014." Repeat, "several of these tenders expected to impact 2H 2014." RNS on contract wins soon? Just after every man and his dog has sold? Good time to be buying, but then again, it has lost 75% of its value in 6 monhts, so, ye, keep selling nubs, your getting a good price! :) | theprovosts
16/10/2014 11:56 | Who is actually running this co., and what are they currently doing to improve the returns for shareholders, do they have any employees and where do they work, perhaps someone could give them a call! | bookbroker
15/10/2014 08:41 | What we need here is good news, eg. a big contract. This would dispel much of our discontent with the Eastlake Court transaction. | varies
14/10/2014 14:52 | The property is definitely fit for purpose and was purchased for Thalassa tenancy ...question is why a well funded company with excess capital on the balance sheet did not buy it directly?Be interesting to look at the yield the chairman achieved..relative to what Thalassa get on deposit!Either way the man has bought a vacant commercial building at a price that would now be worth considerably more with a long term tenancy.IMHO it is better to avoid such conflicts unless absolutely necessary..this was not absolutely necessary and has dented the company's value as it has raised questions as to who the chairman is actually working for!Look cheap here as its a decent underlying business that is well funded 50p of cash and has net assets of 130p.Ride the storm may pay off long term.Although there is a short term supply demand issue with oil the dynamics are still solid further out...demand will continue to grow and supply diminish and accurate well assessment will remain important.sanctions will be relaxed (hurting Germany too much) and business will return to normal.Maybe we will see a share buyback from the company...or the chairman!! | kooba
14/10/2014 14:42 | RCTurner2 14 Oct'14 - 15:36 - 2961 of 2961 0 0 A lot of small minded comments on here. ==================== I assume you mean 'narrow minded' ? Now, who's 'small minded'? | pj 1
14/10/2014 14:36 | It's actually quite common for businesses to rent such buildings. They have to be put to good use after all. IBM UK are based in one such place outside Winchester for example (Hursley Park). A National Trust place down the road from me (Bradenham Manor) is leased to one of the big firms of accountants etc. etc. Having been to the IBM site I can say it is a lovely place to work, more like a university environment. A lot of small minded comments on here. | rcturner2
14/10/2014 14:25 | RCT - My error re Newark. Will edit original post. | speedsgh
14/10/2014 14:22 | RCT I think it came from my comparison of Industrial units for rent, I live near Newark However, I cannot find any listed Mansions or Halls for Rent up here to compare against. I notice the good Lady from Chatsworth passed away recently. Maybe the Duke could do a deal with Mr Soukup? However, I can just see The Duke Sukoup in his pipe and slippers sipping the best Brandy In Warminster in a few years Apols my scepticism. | pj 1
14/10/2014 14:10 | I thought they were in Bude in Cornwall? What is the source for Newark? | rcturner2
14/10/2014 14:03 | Jeez You mean they have been trading next door to me and I never knew? :-// Id booked a holiday in Cornwall as well.... ! | pj 1
14/10/2014 13:57 | Newark is next to the much upgraded A1. Warminster is a relatively deprived corner of the near south west that is not well linked. The weather is however considerably better than in Newark. Is this the reason ?? Please move over Mr Soukoup and let someone else run this company with more 'sensitive hands' | pbutterworth1
14/10/2014 13:45 | Eastleigh Court, Warminster - Have to admit that it seems a rather strange property + location for the business. Looks more of a country retreat for landed gentry. "The location and proximity to major transportation hubs will be key to attracting new staff and to maintaining the Company's growth over the coming years." Anyone who knows Warminster will know that it is not exactly close to major transportation hubs. Difficult to see how credibility will be regained from here. It will certainly take a long long time. Plenty of time for Mr Soukup to take the company private for a mere snip perhaps? | speedsgh
14/10/2014 13:12 | bookbroker - and no, this would not be accepted in the us | pbutterworth1
14/10/2014 13:10 | As this company and its sp, run by self interested management who should have known better, lurches down to a p/e of under 6 can we all consider who might emerge to buy this business ? Hate the managment but starting to like the price. Still out after selling at mo | pbutterworth1
13/10/2014 09:07 | thanks varies, I have learnt over many years that if you buy shares that are falling, you need a good temperament. Short term factors are dominating here. I do not claim to be able to buy at the bottom, but wars and plagues create good long term buying opportunities. Sorry for sounding like a ghoul, but there it is. | rcturner2
13/10/2014 08:43 | RCTurner2 As a fellow sufferer I offer my condolences on the immediate outcome of your recent purchase; I topped up at 114p. Catching falling knives requires stronger nerves than mine and I shall wait a little before putting my hand out again. What I had not realised about Eastleigh Court is that this is (to quote ST)a resplendent Grade II listed property and that THAL is taking over premises now vacated by the National Trust. Will Mr Soukup be living in state in the remaining 3400 sq ft of the building ? Are these premises needed because business has expanded or are THAL giving up offices elsewhere ? | varies
13/10/2014 08:08 | Whatever it is, I'm out - took a big hit on this, but I've got no faith in management. Should have trusted my instinct a couple of months back, bah!Might trade my way in and out of the volatility on this but I think there are better opportunities out there from an investment standpoint. | frampster |
