Ptolemy,
An interesting analogy. However,I would add a further dimension that one of the daughters marries someone who wins the lottery and buys you a carribean island as a 'thankyou'.In the case of TEK the 'jackpot' takes the form of a major tech company that loves one or more of your patents and either buys the IP or more likely takes you out at a massive premium to the share price. That's the risk/reward here and on a positive note, the risk is spread across several possibilities.DYOR

The issue at the moment is that there is so much money in the system, companies don't need to come to individual shareholders to raise cash. We're actually an inconvenience. They can go to a handful of institutions and do a bit of paperwork and finish the process in a week. Or go to a few thousand private share holders, do loads of admin and take months doing it.

Specifically, in the case of TEK I think it worth repeating what I wrote in November about the TEK portfolio. If you're a shareholder these are the risks:

"It's rather like having four daughters. No sooner has the first married and you give a sigh of relief thinking it's clear skies ahead, the second asks for help with a house deposit. The third requires university funding. That done, the fourth asks for a car having recently passed her driving test. In short, a never ending cycle of funding (and dilution in equity but, perhaps dilution of you relationship with your daughters, too!).

Seems a fair deal, they take big risk basically being locked in here for a long time and I only have to pay a 10% premium.

ok.

Shall pop in @7.5p or 15p whichever is the earlier!

In parting: buying now is like ploughing the field for the placees.. it's the placees who will reap the harvest.. and how!

Aren't they clever!

Looks about the right level for such an illiquid investment. Potential for a quick 50% upside from these levels.

The placing is huge and at such big discount.

Something wrong, in the background?

just 33% being used for warrant exercise.

the rest, for ...what, exactly?

Or put another way...10p is unrealistically low.Buy low/sell high...T'was ever thus..

Right..so the 'huge potential', as you put it is: not to exceed 21.5p.. for that would be 'unrealistically high'?

21.5p was unrealistically high...simples...

yes, yes... potential..potential.. always tomorrow, isn't it?

If the so-called 'huge potential' is so enticing why the discount of 50%+ from the recent high of 21.5p (just TEN DAYS ago)???

That's the real discount.

Don't tell me the placing wasn't being hawked around the bazaars at that time.

TEK was part of the Belluscura journey from the early days and is reaping the rewards. There is huge potential in the portfolio companies if they deliver.Placings are part of the rocky road to riches for believers but they need to get their act together if they want to attract and retain PI's

the fact that the discount was so steep would suggest to me that the market didn't want to touch it, &/or could smell desperation?

I would assume it prudent if you are going to raise cash to raise enough for future opportunites. GIven the progress by Salarius for example it maybe funds will be invested there. THis company manages costs well - just cant manage its share price! Anyway I have bought a few more for the obvious reasons.

Just 1.25m of the 3.8m is being used for a specific purpose, the rest for 'this and that', effectively, imo.

That's 2.55m for, well, whatever... working captal... blah..blah..blah

glad I didn't get taken in by rise(s) in the weeks prior

Id go along with all that. Hopelessly discounted but ironically immediately capital enhancing given half the fuinds will be used to buy options worth x times the investment

Anyone buying now would simply be providing a profit-taking opportunity for the placees, no?

Holders at higher levels are understandably hacked off with the discount but a buying opportunity IMO.
