Russia’s Biggest Bank Pilots Money Transfer on an IBM Blockchain

Sberbank has piloted the Russian banking industry’s first ever payment transaction over a blockchain.

Sberbank, Russia’s biggest bank by assets, has executed a real-time money transfer over an IBM-built blockchain based on the Hyperledger Fabric – a blockchain software. The transaction involved a money transfer of an unknown sum between a payer and a receiver in two separate banks, facilitated by Sberbank’s IT systems complete with a web application for the bank’s client to track the transfer.

CIBJO President Supports De Beers Blockchain Diamond Traceability Plan

CIBJO President Gaetano Cavalieri has voiced the World Jewellery Confederation's support for a De Beers development project that employs blockchain technology.


"This has the potential of being a game changer, with new technologies offering solutions to a challenge that has been notoriously difficult to achieve to date," said Cavalieri. "While we still are waiting for more information from De Beers about how specifically the system can be applied to diamonds, we are well aware of blockchain's capacity to record for perpetuity chains of transactions, allowing goods to be traced back to their source.

15.75-18.8p...1000 shares available at sub 17.2p but they will not sell any more than that because I actually tried a fill or kill for 5000 and 10000 at that price and they refused to deal.

fiat currencies are issued and controlled by governments.
they have limited supply to control inflation and meet other criteria.
fiat meaning not backed by an asset such as gold or silver.

Interesting 1 pound Stirling (or £1) derived its name from being worth 1 pound in weight of Stirling silver.
