The price still has some froth baked in. |
Pod . Think you hit the nail on the head about sector. Massive post lockdown victim as retail online. Kws a former stock market darling has slumped even with a decent first half update. Looks to me like investment buying is very sector targeted and unfortunately games are not one. Could always be a speculative bid at this price |
Well there is that saying.
Only invest in businesses where an idiot can run them, because at some point in time an idiot will be running it.
Having said that, can't see the new CEO messing up, at least in the short-term - not even due to start until 4/9/23 - formally becoming CEO on 1/1/24.
However .... Jefferies have cut their PT on TM17 from 475p to 360p.
?????????? |
I'm hovering over the buy button too. Projected pbt looks great Can the new CEO really mess up this business ? |
Quiet here.
Been slaughtered since the DB announcement - Justified?
Or is the sector just out of fashion?
Had my finger on the buy button several times but, due to the price action, I think I'll wait for the half-year TU - which to be honest I had expected to be published before now. |
Team17 Group plc, a global games label, creative partner, developer and publisher of independent ("indie") premium video games, educational entertainment apps for children, and working simulation games, is pleased to announce the appointment of Steve Bell as Chief Executive Officer. Steve will join the Board on 4 September 2023 as Group Chief Executive Officer Designate, formally assuming the role of Group Chief Executive Officer from 1 January 2024.
Debbie Bestwick MBE will continue in the role of Group Chief Executive Officer until 31 December 2023, working closely with Steve in the initial months of his appointment to ensure a smooth transition and hand over and as previously announced, will then join the Board as a Non-Executive Director on 1 January 2024. |
Chart continuing to look really bad. This was quite widely tipped a while back. Another harsh lesson learned. |
Bought a few of these this morning. Hoping they have bottomed out |
Well we got one but it was about an acquisition, which looks pretty good . Childrens educational game. Another couple of pretty hefty sells reported. Hopefully hooray Henry fund manager has peed off down the pub spending all his clients losses. |
Now we know the drop cause.Unloading nearly 2 million shares at 3.42 lunchtime today. Guess we might be due an RNS |
Very minor update: No new CEO yet but there is another positive sign from Team17 in the meantime.
Team17 are recruiting for a full time, permanent Director of Investor Relations (Team17 Group PLC).
I don't expect this on its own to make the earth to move, but if Team17 are going to proactively start presenting themselves more widely, in a better light, to investors, I suspect some will bite, and the price will rise proportionately to increased demand.
Anyway, nothing major, but it makes me feel a little more secure with my own share of the company..!

Keep us informed of your opinion on DB'd successor 😊 apad |
Thanks APAD, I'm kinda new to stock market dealing as such, but I study Systems, particularly in regard to business (as my nickname might suggest). Stafford Beer and 'Brain of the Firm' are very influential and very pertinent.
There are a LOT of analytics out regarding stock market metrics, a lot of people better informed than I on these things. BUT little attention seems to be paid to what's actually happening at the coal face.
Although I do take heed of PE Ratio, yield, the overall market, etc, my focus is on the 'soft' end of what a business is doing. E.g. happy customers, happy employees, internal structure, good supplier relations, well rounded and competent board, realistic corporate ambitions, etc. (although it now sounds quite naive when I say it out loud..!?!)
Team17 are a very good test for my purposes.
Anyway, I believe in this strategy and I'm putting my money where my mouth is. Whether it'll work or not...I'll tell you when I access my pension :D |
Looks a good post SystemsThinker. I see your record as 4 posts on the 9th and 10th April. Surprising for an informed post. apad |
Seems the market can't enough of this overvalued rudderless fluff huh |
Stockopedia had a consensus 24.6p adjusted EPS - 27.8p was achieved - the fall does look to be around the CEO/Founder stepping back.
Seems to be a bit of an over-reaction as:-
a) She hasn't left yet (and is staying as a non-exec). b) She has spent many years putting together an excellent team, one of which will be capable of taking the helm - I'd be staggered if they appoint an outsider.
BWDIK |
Decent results so have to think the drop is down to the CEO leaving, which given she is TM17 it's no surprise really. |
The market is unreasonable. But 10% down on the news of a good CEO leaving is not unreasonable in my opinion.
Personally I added another 50% of my total holding for the stock as I am confident. Over the last 5 years Iv been in it’s been like a rocket. The decline from £8 was the stock coming back down to earth after Covid.
£4.50-£4.70 is the fair price of this in my opinion and there is a good support of these prices since winter.
If you currently hold this wait til £5 before you make a decision. It’s definitely coming sooner than later. |
And you can 101? Volumes high with substantial funds coming in and out. The market is digesting the potential affects of the departure of a highly successful CEO. |
Not good to call him a clown. Everyone is allowed their opinion and theirs is just as useful as your own.
Anyway this 10% drop is a buying opportunity. Almost 50% increase in revenue and the profit would of been 30% up if not for a £9M acquisition.
Overall the numbers are not bad at all it’s just because Debbie is leaving which is for the drop in my opinion. The core business is still a cash cow and my best earned since 2019. |
"Looks good" huh. Seems the clowns on here can't recognise what the market thinks is positive. |
I retain an interest in this company...even though I am not always invested . I just wanted to say hats off to Debbie....for her work at Team17 and her ability to also consider her family as well.
Debbie Bestwick MBE, Chief Executive Officer of Team17, commented:
"This has probably been the hardest decision I've made, but I wouldn't have made it if I wasn't confident in the succession plans and the leadership team's ability to deliver the clear and focused strategy regarding our collective goals and ambitions. Ultimately, I want to spend more time with my children who have made sacrifices many times during my career and specifically to spend more time with my youngest before he goes to university. |
Bestwick leaving is a surprise/negative... |
RNS (x2) looks good....
