There you have it. Just about to gap down below 6000 and some news drops claiming covid under control by Xmas. They just won't let it drop. Of course, this is same situation in business, at some point no amount of fudging the numbers and promising (wind farms in ten years time!?!) hides the reality from coming out.Back to waiting for me.

Disney,

We also have the next round of Brexit talks this week. Have to see whether Boris sticks to his 15th Oct deadline.

Lockdown restrictions, Brexit talks and US election still affecting stockmarkets in the short term.

I expect BDEV will say they have been busy and demand is there.

However, whether they/HB see the need for further support govn support (Help to Buy/Stamp Duty hol) and their outlook statement will be more important than how they have done over the past few months.

"I do tend to ignore current factors & look ahead at what the future holds"

Yes, it explains why you were buying all the way down from 170p whilst I, over the last few months, were expecting the HBs/Banks/Oils to be in a downtrend due to the several major uncertain events coming together during this qtr, Q4. There will always be some uncertainty but I've never seen so many uncertain MAJOR events come together within a short period of time.

Obviously now we're in Q4, some of those uncertain events are now factored into the price. ;-)

The uncertain events mentioned 6 months ago:

2nd wave covid: come true, still uncertain. 2nd lockdown possible.

Brexit: still ongoing, further talks this week. Still uncertain.

Furlough ending: The Chancellor has extended support for businesses if there's a
lockdown to try and stem job losses.

US Elections: only few weeks left, still uncertainty. I think Trump is supporting the US markets to help him win.

Chinese aggression - Taiwan - getting intense, Trump pre-occupied with Elections

Economic recession: Still uncertain.

Notice how the big daily cases are released in the evening, as they scrabble for hours to think of more fudging ideas, like the "glitch" to throw us off.Yesterday's "low" 13k was out prompt at the usual time...Just like they won't let the FTSE drop below 6000 (unless they really have to) they don't want to see cases above 20k either and I guess today or tomorrow's numbers are very near it or over! Let's see...

ST, The other properties were other peoples in the village not mine,I new roughly what my house was worth & what I would expect & was very similar to the estate agents although I did tell him I was looking for more & always put an offers over price in anyway but around 40 people came to the open house event( some to be bloody nosy ) & 3 people wanted to buy it, being only 1 hour from London by train this house was a bargain compared to London prices, Land,Farm house & Annex, you can't buy a terraced house for that! I think a lot of people are now beginning to realise that you get a much better life outside of London even for those that commute it is still financially more cost effective & for those that work from home its perfect all round, at the end of the day the house was deliberately finished to a high standard & as I find with running my own company people will pay for quality & on this occasion, quality & timing has paid dividends.

Jugears, the man who has had a life of property investment behind him.

CAN”T even value his own properties.

Undersells every one, then does it a forth time, in the same village. !!!!!

Village idiot comes to mind.

Up here in Scotland it tends to be an offers over model. In the highlands and Islands, which are remote, I would expect some fixed price or under offering. But in the central belt, as far as I can see houses are selling as fast as I have ever seen them sell.

Sikh, The house I have finished renovating has sold Stc for more than the asking price, the other three houses that were also for sale in the same village also sold for more,It seems this is a common thing in villages at the moment, I don't sell many houses but the ones I have sold have all gone for the asking price or more , I appreciate that not all houses sell for the asking price but also doubt the 80% mentioned, I suppose it depends how desperate you are to sell . BTW thanks for not advising me on my RR purchase .

Jug,

"Active where is this imaginary area where 80% of house prices have been reduced in last 3 weeks obviously not in th uk"

Didn't Active post about selling prices???

If you're a property investor or know anything about the property market then you would know it is common for properties to sell for less than asking price.
If you were a property investor then you would have known this. ;-)

I haven't seen evidence of widespread gazumping, like in the 80s/90s, have you?

This article mentions different areas of UK, where selling prices are lower than asking prices
