20/7/2010 09:04 | I see the FTSE was dealt quite a good hand but has chucked it in straight away.Must have been cold being blue and rushed back to the warmth of red. It's like smokey and the bandit - there's bears everywhere. I fancied TW was trading properly this morning but changing my mind now. | barf2
20/7/2010 08:46 | See that is the difference between astute investors and amateurs. If you had of sold the wife and given the house free with her you would have saved on estate agent fees. | ![]() spennysimmo
20/7/2010 08:32 | My view - if it helps to reassure at all?: 1. Directors have bought in at the 26p level therefore that is a good bench mark. 2. In the future the share price will be above that so buy on the dips and sit and wait for the reason why the directors have bought. ps I bought my house for £54k in 1994 and sold it in 2004 for £265k (but the wife was sold as an asset with the house!!) | tts
20/7/2010 08:23 | Which just goes to show that prices do go up.I bought a house in the late eighties for 60k & in 1997 sold it for 45k(2years ago this house was worth 200k) at the same time i bought a house for 70k & sold it 10 years later for 195k. | ![]() jugears
20/7/2010 08:14 | I bought my house in the UK in 1988 for 97K. In 1992 it was worth 82K. I sold it in 2004 for 300k. | ![]() newkid
20/7/2010 07:08 | so, it's agreed then.Let's all start looking forward to 2026-2030 [we won't argue about the 4 years]. | barf2
20/7/2010 06:57 | Depends where you lived then as that was certainly not the case in the South, the main drop was around 1990 to 2001 when things moved up only gradually, quickly made up for it from 2005 to 2007 so within 20 years a very very handsome profit, even after taking into account mortgage payments | ![]() thinking

19/7/2010 22:48 | I was talking about getting your money back in real terms from peak in 1989 to the point when house value WAS at original value in the 2000s. About 20 years | ![]() sir brainy
19/7/2010 22:44 | Ya daft bint, obviously the wromg time of the month | ![]() sir brainy
19/7/2010 22:40 | prices peaked 2006, thats 16 years from low the peak get a calculator | ![]() gcom2
19/7/2010 22:28 | Actually it took nearly 20 years for properties to recover from the trough (1989) to the breakeven in real terms (2005) | ![]() sir brainy
19/7/2010 22:21 | In the late eighties & early nineties proprty price fell 25% and although it took about 10 years they did recover & they will again,IMHO this is a fantastic recovery stock for the long term! | ![]() jugears
19/7/2010 22:09 | Nae problemo | ![]() sir brainy
19/7/2010 20:58 | I don't know about the UK but we are seeing increased volumes of investors looking for property here in Spain. What do we all think about all the recent director buys which are already under water? | ![]() newkid
19/7/2010 20:41 | Tell that to the folks on the board of Taylor Wimpey, which has lost 30 per cent of its value over the past two months | bordersboy
19/7/2010 19:55 | Dont forget Tw have a number of advantages to the resale market which are often forgotten and they are special mortgage offers, shared ownership etc etc, so when an 'expert' spouts off about the market, look beyond, as one of the reasons why there are more properties on the market now is due to the fact that a HIP is no longer required so you have the so called speculators putting their properties up for sale, often at a higher than achievable price that will then have a knock on affect to the days its takes to sell and the fodder for pessimists. | ![]() thinking
19/7/2010 19:30 | Well I think this is a great price to top up at so have been loading up again today. There may be a penny or two more to come off but I can't see the downside too great from here and the upside is compelling | ![]() mercury123 |
