There was a big move from £1.95 to £2.80 after the March 12 update. The news has not materially changed since then, but the market may use the opportunity to fill some of that gap between those two figures if it was expecting better news.

Hard to tell how the market will take the update. While I prefer under to over promising, of which this one is the former, the company still has a lot to prove.

Being a glass half empty guy, my fingers are crossed.

Knowing a little how these things work….Numis are broker to fellow speciality chemicals outfit Elementis but not Synthomer; I doubt the analyst will ever be more positive on SYNT than ELM.

Likewise a small top up at 2.71I cannot believe there will be a Bird update tomorrow in view of the recent mid March update and refinancing.Then again, I was confident about WOSG after the directors bought a load at the end of last year and then they came out of the profit warning in January! Fingers crossed

I guess because its a "Hold" rather than a buy plus we havent read the full note. Been on a good run, so I guess some profit taking is normal before the update.

I've personally been buying on the weakness today.

The equity still has a lot of value in it if they can repair the misdemeanours of the past (in their control to an extent) and capacity/demand/pricing in the nitriles business stabilises (not in their control).

Part of a wider programme, more positive than negative I think. Worth catching the webcast of the last set of results - sensible self-help stuff and if watch to the end, has the chance of upgrades at the mid-year if early trends remain intact IMO.
