Given no one knows the results yet, it can't be based on efficiency. What they do know is that it's safe and that Interfrons are known substances (including being used in a 3 drug trial), repurposed here. Given the number of background papers around Infa working, it's most likely the 2nd of your suggestions

It's also worth saying that currently, there are no home based therapies, as far as I know, so it's a 1st in a number of ways.

Surely someone on here must know whether the NHS would be agreed to widen the trial parameters for SNG if it didnt have good reason to do so (ie SNG's treatment was showing statistically significant improvements in the underlying patients?) or is the NHS just making sure the trial significantly large enough to either validate or disprove SNG? Wish I knew.......
