So the concern isn't over the special divi? Rather what they will state the regular divi to be?

I am not sure what is wrong with a total dividend of 10p (gbp 27m pa) when the company has more than adequate cash or nr cash(contracted assets) to pay this for the next few years, fund cap ex and still have funds in the Bank.

I like to see a sensible and maintainable dividend. say 3-4p a year.

Interceptor - Id say just as importantly platinum had significant resistance sitting at 1200 and it blasted straight through it. Palladium also doing well, we couldn't ask for much more really here.
Whats the general concern regarding the special dividend by the way? I don't really understand why a few people have stated some anxiety
thanks

Platinum still strong at $1264 this morning, it has increased by 15% in one week, should be rather positive for SLP which seems to be responding now.

Looking at the 4 year Platinum chart this current breakout does seem significant after long period of consolidation.

Highly recommend 4505 link:

Soundbite: Plat could match Pall and gold price, so $1800+

WPIC says there is a ‘growing market’ for platinum in hydrogen adoption.

It is estimated that green hydrogen could supply up to 25% of the world’s energy needs and become a $10-trillion addressable market, says the World Platinum Investment Council (WPIC).

The US re-joining the Paris Climate agreement should also bolster the momentum, and accelerate hydrogen adoption, adds the WPIC.
It notes that the rapid growth of the proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolysis market “clearly has the potential” to benefit platinum demand, albeit modestly in the short- to medium-term.

I'm wondered why the recent rise in Pt has only had a little effect here, surely share price should've been much higher and reflected the rise.

Yeah THS is a bit of a conundrum. Keeping my stake there small until it starts to move again (in the right direction). Does seem to have the advantage of having the entire chrome to PGM cycle.

Anyway a good day here - just nervous about the dividend announcement at the interims.

I'm surprised Tharisa is a bit subdued. Having said that I prefer Sylvania.

Reliable power is a problem in South Africa

Pan African Resources plc (LON:PAF) is to build a 10 Megawatt (Mw) solar power plant at its Evander Mines operation in South Africa.

The gold miner said the project would cost R140mln (£7mln) and be the first of its kind in South African mining.

Construction will commence in the first quarter of 2021, with first power expected in the third calendar quarter of 2021.

German group juwi will build the plant having already constructed six solar plants in South Africa and 1700 solar plants globally, said Pan African.

The plant at Evander will use previously disturbed land with a calculated payback on investment of under 5 years.

If successful, Pan African said it would consider expanding the Evander Mines plant to provide a clean energy feed to its Egoli Project and also might build a similar plant at the Barberton Mines.

The link below is well worth a look. Particularly the recent history of Palladium and the reason it increased four fold since 2017, The guest sees a potential similar situation now with Platinum which is by volume 61% of SLP production.
