doug,

quite a few easy patterns on slp and other shares like it, doesnt move north until they have the shares to satisfy it, then they are more than happy to give us a higher price, way it works

For what its worth. I can see a step change in the demand for industrial metals and semiconductors, such like.
Not just a temporary spike but an on going demand that is out pacing new supply.

Just consider the adoption of new tech hardware that is hitting the streets in every corner of the globe.

Liberum...

"Sylvania have declared a one-off windfall dividend of c.5.2 cents per share, 27% above our estimate of 4.1 cents. We expect a final dividend at the full year results of 4 cents, giving a combined yield of 6.4% in 2021. Sitting with $67m of cash and generating $155m of FCF at spot prices (35% FCF yield), with no major capex commitments, dividends look set to rise materially going forward. Basket prices hit a new record high today of c. R65,000/oz, and whilst this would normally make some investor nervous, we believe that the fundamentals for rhodium are solid on a three year view (see here). Top pick in mining."

Not only USD67m of Cash but also USD67m of near cash, as Trade and other receivables (Contracted Assets) have a proven history of converting to cash given limited parties and they relate to PGMs.

Not many companies have above and just USD29m of Total Liabilities.

With Rhodium already trading at 10% to 15% above price used in Corporate Presentation and demand likely to remain strong, the prospects for future appreciation in share price remains excellent.

Mr Stephens - absolutely, the results we look at today are representative of a basket price that is well out of date.

Some useful data in the Amplats results presentation today:

There is no supply response to price; Amplats aims to increase production by 20% in 2030 through mechanisation.

Little new in the H2 results apart from the 'special dividend' which is disappointing although ultimately has no impact on current valuation, which is very cheap. Even on the basis of H1 this is valued at 3.3 x ebitda but on prospective earnings more like 2.2 x

Cash pile doubled, basket price is still climbing.
3.75p windfall divi will not make a scratch in their cashflow.

To make almost the same profit in the first half 2021 as SLP made in the entire year 2020 is outstanding. The basket price for q3 is up at least 30% to over $4000. Rhodium today is $23,650. Palladium is holding over $2,400 and platinum is bouncing around 1,300. Currently $1,277.That would give net profits of $100m fy 2021 up 127%

"If" PGM prices are maintained at around current levels for the next few months then a further special dividend can be reasonably expected next year. Except next year 'could' be a full years production so it would not be unreasonable to expect 4p or more.

Had the GBP/USD not been on a huge run of late then we could have had 4p+ this year...

So if the basket price is roughly maintained then h2 could be 50-60$m net profit so full year around 90$m
That sounds alright to me.

It's an OK dividend. But the rest of that report is a little underwhelming. I was really hoping for firm news on a major investment programme to expand/diversify operations

Since start of the year the SLP 4E basket price is up about 27%.

Basket value breakdown now approx 1/1.3/4.1 for Pd/Pt/Rh

Rh bid price up significantly again today.

I maybe wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised if the windfall special dividend will apply to holders on the register from today or possibly some date in the past rather than some future date. The share price will drop by the amount of the dividend and maybe more as it has done in the past on the announcement of good news and an upwards rerate by the broke, i.e. all the good news is priced in already.
Then after a week or so the price will move up again along with the general rise in metal stocks.
Though it may just take off, who knows??
