This is getting a little off topic, but I spend several months a year out of the UK and IG have never raised it at all, but several years ago when I was shopping around for a new broker I spoke to II and they told me that I would not be able to operate their account from outside the UK, even if I was just spending a couple of days in France.I guess it's like retail banks, you can have good or bad experiences with any of them depending on the individual staff member you deal with. |
Look under transactions rather than income in HL |
Meanreverter,
I would agree with that and love the platform but IG have created a big problem for it’s clients. All of their back office operations are in Bangalore. I was backpacking in India for a few months at the end of 2023 and beginning of 2024. When they realised my wife and I were in India they completely shut down our accounts and cut off our money supply, citing that India was an unsafe country. They were unable to see the hypocrisy. We were forced to transfer to another broker whilst travelling. They made numerous unreasonable requests to enable the transfer to go through to prolong our suffering and inconvenience for as long as they could. Basically it came across that internally they had decided to prohibit anybody using their account if they were outside the Uk. I stress this is an IG policy as none of the regulators make them or any other broker do it. |
Yup, agree. I use both |
Interactive Investor is good, but I'll put in a word for IG. Dividends are paid on time, and the trading charge is just £3. |
you guys need to change your brokers ... PI's complaining about not receiving Distributions is a really common gripe on these boards. Interactive Investor have always settled funds into my account ON THE DAY prescribed without ever being late (I've been a customer with them since they took over TDW).
All that aside, Steppe current Mkt Cap is all wrong. One of many such anomalies in the UK just now. The temptation amongst the linked majority holders must be strong to snap it up. |
The corporate action is shown against Steppe in my HL account, but no money credited to either cash or capital account yet. If you have receioved your money from HL, they must like you better than me! |
And nothing in HSBC Invest Direct |
23kk
Have received mine in HL in the last hour. Nothing in Iweb yet |
No payment yet at HL it seems??? |
That's 2 payments this last year in 2024, who can complain, really, moaning old women you are, first paid on 0060624 and second on 311224, the pattern and policy is clear, be grateful and buy whilst it is so ludicrously cheap by any rational meansure |
They DID announce it, "approximately 1.5p" and it ended up as 1.509p.What level of accuracy are you seeking? As the extra 0.009p surely isn't going to cause you any problems. As for the way you feel about them not updating, what are you expecting??? They have told us everything we need to know, they cannot change the tax regime in 3 different countries. Read the rns's like everyone else. This is the best and most efficient way they can return cash to shareholders. |
They should still announce the amount in advance like other companies do. We shouldn't be waiting until the money lands to know how much we're getting.
How many years is it now that they've been unable to pay dividends? Has there been any progress whatever on sorting that out? They haven't even kept us up to date with what's going on.
I don't know if they're incompetent or just don't care, but what chance is there that a company that doesn't bother to announce a distribution amount in advance is going to be able to manage a complex task like corporate restructuring?
When I first bought in here around 30p I was investing in a good underlying company which was undervalued because of being listed on AIM and operating in an exotic jurisdiction. Management looked ok.
Now it's half that price and it's a good underlying company undervalued because of AIM, jurisdiction, convoluted corporate structure and poor corporate management. It's still good value but it's a lot further from achieving that value than it seemed to be a few years back.
Every year we're left guessing, will there be a distribution? How many? How much? When? In what form? And then when they do announce one, we're left guessing the dates. Then when they do announce the dates, we're left guessing the amount.
We need a roadmap for getting back to normal dividends and a policy for the time until that is achieved, and if it takes more than a few months, we need regular updates. |
to be exact, i received 1.509289833p / share. 0.619% more than headlined and paid bang on the day promised. No complaints from me. |
IG paid 1.50929p. |
AJBell are late, but they will get there eventually! At least I received the last 'dividend' with them on 7/6/24. |
Thought I would check and very pleasantly surprised that X-o.co.uk got it in as it wasn't at 12:35. Can also confirm 1.509p. Impressed with them today as due 3 dividends and all got in on a shortened day. |
Nothing at HL but that is no surprise. |
Which broker? |
funds received at a rate of 1.509p / share |
A bit melodramatic. Be happy there's a dividend, and that it's around 10%. Or stick your money in a high street bank and hope for 4%.Your choice...for the sake of worrying over whether the special distribution will be 1.5p or "approximately" 1.5p as stated by the company. |
Its the kind of thing thats made them uninvestable for me. |
Once again they announce a distribution but don't announce the exact amount per share. Every other company manages to do that. The result is that some payments are delayed because the brokers don't know how much to pay. Last time, IG paid promptly on the payment date, but later they had to claw back some money because the actual payment was slightly less than the approximate amount the company had announced. This time they've learned their lesson and they're waiting. Why is this sort of basic thing so hard for this company? How can you announce a distribution and not announce the amount, even a few days before the payment is due?Isn't this the sort of thing that nomads are supposed to sort out when they see a company is particularly clueless? |
Payment will arrive 30/31/12/24 |
