As a company they have done extremely well and need to be recognised

SpiriTel wins the FCS VoIP Solution Award 23/06/08

Comms Business Award Winner SpiriTel has made it two out of two with another award triumph – this time the FCS VoIP Solution Award. The award was presented to Kenny Roberts, Technical Director and Jon Singleton, Product Manager at the Awards Ceremony at the Savoy Place, London last week.

The Voice over IP Solution Award recognises innovation in the supply of voice communications over IP networks that provide robust products and services. It also recognises services which demonstrate a level of technical excellence and best practice that surpass the requirements of the customer. SpiriTel won the award for their implementation of a communications solution for Regent Inns plc.

SpiriTel has provided Regent with a unique converged solution, including VPN management, hosted VoIP and customer WiFi to their 100 sites across the UK, their head office and to over 100 field-based staff.

When announcing the award the judges commented, "SpiriTel have proven that they are committed to quality and innovation in solutions that benefit their clients' customer's experience as well as ROI for the companies that use them. This made SpiriTel a worthy winner."

Commenting on the award Alastair Mills said: "We are pleased to receive this award from FCS, as further evidence of our leading position of supplying IP based communications solutions. SpiriTel's extensive portfolio of IP communication solutions, together with our superior level of service, has led to us winning the UK's largest fully converged communication contract. I would like to personally thank all our staff members for their hard work that is recognised in winning this award."

Adam South, IT Director, Regent Inns said: "The IP-engineered solution provided by SpiriTel has exceeded our business expectations, delivering significant benefits to our customers and business. We are extremely pleased with the solution and support received."

This looks excellent so results when they arrive should be company making :-

TAKEN FROM INTERIM RESULTS FOR THE SIX MONTHS ENDED 31 OCTOBER 2007

Chief Executive, Alastair Mills added: "This has been a transformational year for Spiritel.
We have acquired and integrated three new businesses into the Group and grown our
customer base and product portfolio to record levels. Spiritel now has over 1,000 SME and
corporate clients and we have built upon our existing expertise in IP based communications
to launch a new range of converged data and hosted VoIP services alongside traditional
voice and data products. Most significantly, since the year end, the Group has moved into
EBITDA profitability."
..................................................................................................................................
so what does ebitda profitability really mean see below for explanation if you can understand it ;-

EBITDA has a bad rap in the financial world, but does this financial measure really deserve the investor distaste? EBITDA, an acronym for "earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization", is an often-used measure of the value of a business. But critics of this value often point out that it is a dangerous and misleading number, due to the fact that it is often confused with cash flow. In this article we'll show you how this number can actually help investors create an apples-to-apples comparison, without leaving a bitter aftertaste.

The Calculation
EBITDA is calculated by taking operating income and adding depreciation and amortization expenses back to it. EBITDA is used to analyze a company's operating profitability before non-operating expenses (such as interest and "other" non-core expenses) and non-cash charges (depreciation and amortization). So, why is this simple figure continually reviled in the financial industry?

The Critics
Factoring out interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization can make even completely unprofitable firms appear to be fiscally healthy. A look back at the dotcoms provides countless examples of firms that had no hope, no future and certainly no earnings, but became the darlings of the investment world. The use of EBITDA as measure of financial health made these firms look attractive.

Likewise, EBITDA numbers are easy to manipulate. If fraudulent accounting techniques are used to inflate revenues and interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization are factored out of the equation, almost any company will look great. Of course, when the truth comes out about the sales figures, the house of cards will tumble and investors will be in trouble.

Operating cash flow is a better measure of how much cash a company is generating because it adds non-cash charges (depreciation and amortization) back to net income and includes the changes in working capital that also use/provide cash (such as changes in receivables, payables and inventories). These working capital factors are the key to determining how much cash a company is generating. If investors do not include changes in working capital in their analysis and rely solely on EBITDA, they will miss clues that indicate whether a company is losing money because it isn't making any sales.

I am led to believe that Alastair Mills has been away both this week and last week. That is why the results have not been issued yet.

He will sign them off once he gets back on Monday.

The market makers are hammering this share....are we really expecting good news/results and is Spiritel able to pay outright for the new company or will they need to borrow/ print more shares and dilute the present share price even more. Answers would be appreciated. Somebody just sold and the market makers only gave 0.0127p very poor indeed

The other way to find out if a MM has stock in a small co like this is to call in at the office of the Registrars. Here one can look [but not copy] the up to date shareholder list. As 90% of trades are on a 3 day settlement, one would then have to work out the buys and sells over those last 3 days, to give a full picture. I know all the above , as I have done it on many AIM stocks. It gives one the edge , at times, over the MM and is above board.
