Its clear that news of Lloyds decision has been known by insiders for several weeks now, hence accounting for recent series of wild gyrations in share price In fact since the merger with Aberdeen Asset Management last year, this share has been very unstable. Someone remarked previously its more like holding an 'AIM startup' than a major FTSE constituent. Exactly what reasons LLoyds have for their decision to move business from SLA we can only guess at? 'Disappointing' is a major understatement.
