25/2/2002 00:30 | Thanks guys :) K that looks like the one will give them a ring first. Regards M | martini
25/2/2002 00:21 | M, after you've finished looking at pommy's site try . | kayak
25/2/2002 00:18 | M: James Smith & Sons, 53 New Oxford Street, 020-7836 4731 is no doubt the one you are thinking of. New Oxford Street is of course the part east of Tottenham Court Road station going towards Holborn. I don't know if they do antiques but their manufactured selection of sticks and umbrellas is a wonder to behold. | kayak
25/2/2002 00:18 | Is this the sort of cane you are after ? if so go here..... | pommy
24/2/2002 16:45 | And one more for you - half way up Kensington Church Street on the east side of the street. A worthwhile expedition if you were to carry on up to Kensington Place for a little lunch... | titus
24/2/2002 15:24 | Martini. There is a shop at the east end of Oxford Street, basically just south of the British Museum, 100 yrds from Morgans Computers. It has a range of gentlemans walking sticks. Also there is a fantastic walking stick dealer in the Museum des Antiquitaire antiques market in Paris, just by the Louvre, but I guess that might prove a little far away. It has hundreds of walking sticks from the last 2-3 centuries there. Maybe worth hopping over on the Eurostar. :) | clem
24/2/2002 13:40 | MTGlass There's a thought. Cheers mayfly. M | martini
24/2/2002 13:35 | Hey Martini, A gentleman of your calibre surely deserves something a bit special - I suggest you try or maybe - still the best IMO. Rgds M | mayfly
24/2/2002 13:34 | Just a thought; if you can't find an antique one that suits - why not get one made? Plenty of woodcarvers/woodturn There are some serious local craftsmen of international standing making silver-handled high quality stuff. Commission a matched pair - one with a bull's head and one with a bear's head. Should have some eventual rarity value. (Edited out the local rustic :o) | m.t.glass
24/2/2002 13:11 | Cheers again. Hotei Will search for Grays and take alokk at the ebay. PlanB Some nice sticks there but how beloved will react to $1000+ not sure but very nice. This one is nice at $1500 | martini
10/2/2002 17:18 | CC I've recently taken a fancy to SOG. From my notes: 11/9/01 Interim Results were in line but they are using cash and they have arranged loan finance. The house brokers suggest b/e in 2002. Citywire 12/12 reports some shrewd holdings. On 3/1 Investors Week said that +ve Cash flow end 2001 was confirmed and they were a speculative Buy. On 10/1 Shares Mag said Buy, despite an awful performance, and referred to a risk analysis deal coming. SOG claim their product comes out best in independent analysis. They have recently acquired one of the Micropal founders as a Non-Exec with expertise in acquisitions. Their finances are a bit tricky to follow because instead of a large licence fee and small on-going maintenance, it seems they charge a lower initial fee and a significant ongoing usage fee. Therefore they have a largish delayed revenue stream, assuming they can keep their clients. Lots of general stuff on their web site, www.statpro.co.uk. Strategically I see the current climate pointing towards more rigorous and formal fund management techniques and SOG are certainly one of the leaders. The recent chart shows what might have been a bottom and there has been some buying last week. Hope this helps but none of the above is advice, DYOR etc. and I am a recent holder. Hew | hew
08/2/2002 16:00 | please, anybody tell me y there is nearly a 50% jump in share price in just 3 days, cos i nearly sold last friday for a loss? i paid .69p afew months ago after a buy recomendation from penny share guide. what a poor tipster rag they have turned out. they also tipped jus(in administration) and ieq (suspended) i get better tips from these bb's ! | crapcrap
11/12/2001 22:48 | 110 contracts, turnover £3m, looks like they're giving them away. When do they run out of money????? | humbugg
11/12/2001 22:10 | have all the bbers died on the thread or have you gone over to read just`s thread ???????????????? | crapcrap
02/7/2001 17:08 | Katie Potts' Herald Investment Trust are heavily invested and she is a pretty shrewd cookie. They have increased their sales team tremendously over the last year and this is beginning to bring rich rewards. They have a recurring revenue model, consequently,t All in all a tech success story in a sea of profit warnings.Further to go IMHO. dyor. regards NEM | nemesis
02/7/2001 16:21 | tipped at the weekend sparks a flurry of BUYS but the price drops.....the market of sharedealing continues to act in strange ways. Any other SOG holders out there like to comment on their prospects for the coming months?? Will the recovery continue?? How long can it last?? | rossgr
29/6/2001 10:36 | Rising steadily....just on directors buying earlier this month or are their results due out or an announcement????? I'm off to check some things. | rossgr
14/6/2001 00:37 | Placing of shares completed. Directors have bought additional shares at 69p. MM's buying shares. Institution bought more shares. Positive trading statement, new contracts. Breakout of trading range. All v. positive so as long as the trend doesn't reverse we are looking at a good rise to 85-90p. | huwrayhenry
13/6/2001 13:12 | Wahey!!! At lkast someone with some knowledge of Statpro, I presume you are a shareholder. Bought at 92p many months ago so looking for that level again and I can rest easy. Hopefully all other holders will hold instead of selling for a small profit. This company is so useful and used throughout the world by major players, surprising it has not been re-rated before. | rossgr
13/6/2001 10:13 | Rising nicely....anyone know why???? | rossgr
17/5/2001 08:57 | Most of us probably use them in someway or another reesourcing financial material but does anyone out there hold them other then I?? No discussions whatsoever ont his thread.
