07/8/2012 13:39 | So the are the 6th bank to be accused of this, all of them european/british. I wonder if a US bank will get accused also? The four banks that have already settled (Barclays, Lloyds, Credit Suisse and ING) have been fined a total of $1.8 billion or about $500m each. The language directed at Standard Chartered is particularly severe which implies a bigger fine, say $1B, but equally of interest is Standard Chartered statement of denial. As a shareholder my primary concern is the threat of Standard losing its US banking license. I believe this to be headline grabbing though and the threat isn't likely to be followed through. There appears to be a lot of support around £11 and the only way I can see it falling through that support is if the rhetoric over the banking license heats up. | wazco | |
