I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Chinese made a bid for STAN before the divi is resumed. They like to acquire established outfits that are doing good business in 'their neck of the woods'.

Cerrito - good post and I would agree with your comments. Looks like a reasonable investment at these levels. Hopefully, a dividend policy is not too far away.

Decent results foreshadowed by the Q1 IMS but I am not surprised by fall in share price as I think that the price had rather got away with itself and indeed I wish that I had sold more than I did last week. I was not expecting a dividend..I think it realistic to expect a token one to be declared next year for 2017.
Note that Tangible NAV per share is 1203p ie they are trading at a 35% odd discount. Note also that yesterday HSBC announced a TNAV of $7.73 or £5.8 ie with the HSBC share price at £7.6, HSBC’s are at a 30% premium; on this rather crude matrix for me STAN slightly undervalued ref HSBC.
Other points
I note they are the first bank to offer video banking in HK and cannot recall seeing that service offered by any bank here in the UK
I see that H1’s NIM at 1.6% was the same as H1 2016
For me good to see further increase in CET1 and fact that already exceeds the BOE non binding indicative MREL for 2022.
Was expecting to see comment about expenses for compliance etcet bit if they were there could not see them.
For me shares seem pretty fairly valued in the £8 area

Bought into STAN at 1625 today. Don't mind waiting for the divi.

HSBC has shown that recovery AND dividends can be achieved.

"HSBC has paid out around $10 billion a year in dividends in the last four years, while StanChart cut payouts since November 2015 to focus on restructuring".

No Divi. Market wanted Divi restored and it doesn't like being let down like this.

Quite a good time to get back in though, if you've been on sidelines.

STAN Standard Charted Bank...........on the brink of a breakout. A lot of business done with China and Japan here. If it breaks out, not much resistance on way up to 1000p. Looks rather encouraging.
