Call me cynical, but It's just the market moving up the share price to take advantage of the share buyback programme. Once the cash is exhausted the market will move the price back down. Share buybacks are a waste f company shareholders' cash. Any surplus should be returned to shareholders by way of a special dividend and not spent lining the pockets of the market makers.

Looks to me that the forthcoming news update will be very positive ...buy backs announce prior to results inevitably indicate solid results

yes expensive at first sight. but strong growth - 2012 Rev £5.9 EBITDA £1.1 up to 2013 Rev £9.1 EBITDA £2.9. Good value for first tranche of money, depends on terms for further cost up to £50m. Bought at 77P so very happy, but considering a top-slice.

At the least, SIV have acquired some very good salesmen & women! At best, it is a masterstroke, of course :-].

TBH, it is impossible from the RNS to know what the potential is for this company. And of course the consideration is £21m initially - I would expect conitional consideration to be based on some good growth over the next 3 years. But on the face of it, this seems quite a deviation from the core business.

Odd that they only give gross assets. So who knows what the enterprise value is?

£50m? For that? Genuine madness here.

Looks like a good earnings enhancing addition and was hopefully the reason for the recent pullback as it seemed to have broken north of 200p - now a doubler for me and happy to keep holding this one

Bertrams books has had a tough start - see Connect Group (CNCT) results - but much of it is down to the mix of book sales - which may impact SIV less.

FWIW Bertrams is part of Connect Group (which was Smiths News till yesterday). I have started a new thread for CNCT.

Hearing in the trade that book sales have had a tough start to the year.

This is bound to impact on St Ives Clays. Question is by how much? - after all this is where most of the profit has historically come from.

Ex-div was yesterday, DavR0s. All stocks go ex-div on a Wednesday. Today we seem to have had a large seller.
