Looking at the trades going through, I can only reckon that someone wanted out, urgently, on a bad day for the market. Whatever, it has certainly trashed the share price. Selling seems to have abated for now, but the share price could take some time to recover in this market.

Edit: First real correction since last October.

Have just found this. Looks to be a good indicator of siv's progress on the marketing side of things. Notable too that Sainsbury's are the best performer of the big 4 supermarkets at the moment.

hxxp://www.4-traders.com/ST-IVES-PLC-4002296/news/St-Ives-plc-St-Ives-announced-as-the-overall-SRM-winner-and-supplier-of-the-year-for-Sainsbury-s-16917417/

Paanisha Lad- Thursday 30 May 2013

St. Ives plc : St Ives announced as the overall SRM winner and supplier of the year for Sainsbury's 2013

The outstanding work across the board, in particular SP, Service Graphics and Direct but also enhanced by Occam, Response One and Incite, demonstrates that our collaborative approach has allowed us to respond to Sainsbury's needs.

"St Ives have succeeded in establishing a strategic partnership with Sainsbury's through their ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from across the business, and in conjunction with other suppliers. This level of engagement has been key to their success and is something that we encourage all our suppliers to do.

Through understanding Sainsbury's vision, goal and values, St Ives have sought to deepen their relationship with Sainsbury's as their business grows through exploring new opportunities that align to both our long term strategies. They've provided Sainsbury's with opportunities to help reduce costs and drive efficiencies in everything that we do - they recognise that avoiding complacency helps them maintain a competitive advantage and truly become a long term partner to Sainsbury's.

Aside from their performance in business as usual activity, St Ives have made a notable contribution to Sainsbury's 20x20 initiatives through a value engineering piece of work on in-store point of sale. As a result of their innovation there is set to be a reduction in raw material consumption of approximately 186 tonnes per annum along with the realisation of a shared commercial benefit"

Sainsbury's head of procurement Neil Bradford and senior buyer, retail, Sam Woodhouse

Some buying going on today ahead of an ims which would be on Friday if it's the same date as last year. A couple of the buys are rather large.

I notice one of siv's institutional investors seems intent on raising their holding quite quickly. Let's hope their judgement is good ;-)

'The RWC UK Focus managed by John Innes and his team was launched on 14th December 2010. The fund is one of the RWC UCITS III Sicav's and develops a strategy that Innes' team have managed for many years. The fund is a relatively concentrated, long-only portfolio of UK listed companies. Aiming to generate long term returns for investors, the fund invests in a variety of best ideas that we believe will produce strong total returns (capital & income) over the market cycle'.

We\'re going a bit off topic here lol. Yes owenski. It's a nice bike ride on a sunny day. I usually go down the Billy line where the old railway track ran. Stopped off for a bit of sunbathing on the beach last summer one particularly sunny day. Hope to be able to do it again soon, weather permitting.

I go cycling occasionally round Hayling from Portsmouth and return via the ferry. The roads leading to the Kench are marked private and are also gated, so l've never been down there although l've been past it loads of times. I might try to sneak in next time to take a look ;-) Was in the Barley Mow last week. They do a very good roast there. Good to hear your your Dad\'s brother has a share. He sounds a great bloke.

Hope you've bought a share in The Pompey Trust then Lupins. I have one and it feels good to be part owner, in a small way, of my local football club. Always best to buy at the bottom and we can't go much lower can we ? ;-)

3 directors have bought cheap shares (about 66p) under option agreements. They have then sold them immediately today around £1.60p. I wouldn't worry about them taking a profit tbh especially as the share price moved up after they sold. The shares have done nothing for years so it's understandable that they might want to cash them in. Plus the other notification is about an institution going over a 3% holding so that's a positive.
