Cost savings to increase profits is one thing.

Cost savings because you have lost work to competitors/market shrinking/you've lost volume......................I would propose is not good for shareholders.

Last year the book division made £11.9m of St Ives £14.9m (pre tax)profits.

I'd like to be proved wrong....but I have a feeling that in the hot pursuit of the new 'marketing services company strategy'....they have taken the eye off the ball and the cash cow has an upset stomach.

Are you able to elaborate on redundancies at Clays?

@wave

we knew SIV was scaling back the book division, which was surprisingly profitable.

the fact they are actively seeking to cut costs in a division which is doing well given the outlook is good for shareholders.

Confirmed 30 redundancies at the book division.

Management also trying to push through contractual changes to working hours to make workforce more flexible to cope with peak/ebb in demand.

Is the cash cow running out of milk?

With the TS just over a month away, I believe that SIV share price will just follow the market trend until the update. I remain a buyer at these prices believing this share has the potential to double within 2 years.

Hopefully mkt will stay buoyant leading up too update.

However, feel at some point in near future, profits will taken in the general mkt and return too ' risk off'

A two page write up and buy recommendation by GRILLER in Shares mag today. It mentions possible expansion plans in the US and the far east, and says that growth is still in its early days with a lot further to run.

Word on the presses was 'REDUNDANCY'................to be announced at the book printing side of things.

Not sure if this is simply efficiency savings from new technology, or downturn in orders.
