30/9/2015 11:08 | Yes they sneaked in a Trading Update in that guise. Looks pretty positive , I like the last bit. "SSE is on course to achieve its principal financial objective for 2015/16, which is to deliver an increase in the full-year dividend that will be at least equal to RPI inflation. It continues to recognise that its dividend cover, based on dividend increases that at least keep pace with RPI inflation, could range from around 1.2 times to around 1.4 times over the three years to 2017/18. SSE continues to believe that a long-term target for dividend cover of a range around 1.5 times, also based on dividend increases which at least keep pace with inflation, is the right one to aim for." | wad collector
30/9/2015 09:12 | Never in the history of the stock market has the notification of a closed period been greeted with such euphoria. | lord gnome

22/9/2015 14:10 | You do wonder what the wider market fall has to do with Utilities like UU ; I realise there are marginal effects , but it seems illogical that the fall in commodities should weaken the price here. I suspect few PIs sell in these circumstances ; only the nervous. | wad collector
25/8/2015 09:27 | I feel your pain brother... Looks like the market has forgotten that it was in free-fall yesterday. | wad collector

24/8/2015 16:19 | Value is a relative concept, wad. If everything else is getting cheaper then this will look expensive by comparison if it doesn't also fall. I understand your frustration, however. | lord gnome
24/8/2015 15:38 | I love the way that the share price of SSE is being hammered by a fall in the Chinese stock market. Exactly how much did the profit on electricity fall as a consequence? | wad collector

29/7/2015 07:06 | SSE plc, through its wholly-owned subsidiary SSE E&P UK Limited, has entered into an agreement with Total E&P UK Limited to acquire: a 20% interest in the four gas fields and surrounding exploration acreage approximately 125km north west of the Shetland Islands, collectively known as the Greater Laggan Area; and a 20% interest in the new Shetland Gas Plant. Following completion of the acquisition later in this financial year, Total E&P UK Limited will continue as operator of, and will own a 60% stake in, these assets. The remaining 20% is owned by DONG Energy. The value of the transaction will comprise consideration of £565m for the assets (which reflects their value based on an effective economic date of 1 January 2015, including associated UK capital allowances) plus additional forecast investment of £350m in the period to 2018 to complete the entire development. more.... | skinny
24/7/2015 17:05 | [...] An interesting read. I agree with their general assessment. Thinking of an additional trading position here. | lord gnome
24/7/2015 07:24 | Badly educated teenage scribblers, cyfran101. Pay peanuts get monkeys, I'm afraid. | lord gnome
23/7/2015 20:40 | Very odd reporting going on. Various online publications reporting the drop relating to the trading statement but not one has mentioned its ex final div today. I'd expect it to drop circa this amount on the ex div alone. | cyfran101
23/7/2015 09:30 | Agree , these seem curiously unfashionable but are a key part of my portfolio .They won't double this year but will in 5 yrs probably. That will do me , with steady income and a perennial takeover possibility . | wad collector
23/7/2015 08:14 | Ex div this morning, hence the big drop. SSE looks a very interesting proposition going forward from here. With the ex-div price at 1525p currently and a target eps of 115, I make that a forward pe ratio of just 13.26 with a forward yield of 5.6%. This looks to be a very solid investment to my untrained eyes. Good value. | lord gnome |
