I am a little surprised that a buyback would be allowed in this situation - stinks of supporting the share price after last weeks news. When the buyback was agreed we did not have this information. Yes, I know some will say its a good time to buy back shares but not sure of the ethics of a buyback in this current scenario where there is so much uncertainty.

to go £1 would mean the market cap would be 500m, that won't happen unless that tax situation comes to fruition.

I remember back in the mid 90s sports direct was famous for being overcrowded with merchandise and customers. Today the merchandise remains the same but customers are far between probably as many have moved from cheap sports wear to primark/zara seasonal fashion clothing. Id be surprised if sports direct continues for another 2yrs

I guess the people that are in the know are dismissing the bulk of this tax bill.

Possibly this fall more reflects the other trading.

But on a wider basis, the share has been falling since July 18 and the trend is very sharply down, so that suggests any turnaround will be a long process.

Christmas could be devastating if they don't make decisions RIGHT NOW about their future.

Did someone say MA holds 65% here? Explains why no sharp drop.. the direction of travel will be down for a while imho until sentiment improves.

Several reasons why it won't go sub one pound today imo

Buy back program could kick off tomorrow

Holders are delusional and praying for a quick fix just like before the RNS Friday.

AND THEN

When brokers see the light and no profits or divendeds for years and retail sector woes and possibly who would want to sell items to retailer, sub one quid I'm sure and 50p-ish is my guess

C7 - has a limit buy of sub one pound not holding any atm

I wonder if electric cars really are the future
Hydrogen powered vehicles appear easier
Toyota, Honda already have a couple out there.
So much simpler, fill up as per petrol

I certainly don't fancy having an extension lead along my Drive.
Too much fun for people to Unplug it overnight.... I jump in and the Range says 10 miles not 200.ignoble

Sbix

Down circa 19% then 15% then 17% as I said yesterday the share price would be very volatile throughout the day before it settles after a few days.

Risk very high at the moment.

The threat of a current 30M pound share buyback starting tomorrow

Hangs over the market like the sword of Damocles

Who is to say MA might not up the ante himself if needs be ?

Despite what you Hyenas have said

I am here just as you are and for the same reason. We have both discussed Mike Ashley's involvement with Debenhams prior to its demise and delisting.

TBH I don't have a position and am here due to SPD former involvement with Debenhams. Indeed, I don't like shorting as a tool nor can I recall many posters stating they are shorting.
It's not about enjoying the mess SPD is in - it's a fact! I for one don't want to see anyone lose their.jobs (except perhaps some of the senior management here)
