Enjoyed ITV's 'On top of the world' - Joe Calzaghe programme last night. At the end FW announced that Calzaghe will be fighting again in Wales in July.
The Times reports that he will be fighting at the Millennium stadium on July 8th with a possible audience of 80,000 fans. Furthermore the fight will be held at a more suitable time for ITV audiences. Warren is quoted as saying, "If the Americans want to see it they will have to show it delayed". The favoured opponent is Roy Jones Jr. Apparently 'The Ring' (the American boxing magazine)has declared Calzaghe the undisputed super-middleweight champion which is the first time in 16 years that this title has been awarded.
The Times also reports that Calzaghe will be leading out the Welsh and Italian teams at the Millennium stadium tomorrow(RBS six nations).

Looking good!

UK : Reebok bags boxer Amir Khan
March 10, 2006

Teenage boxing thrill, Amir Khan has landed a multi-million pound deal with sportswear giant, Reebok.

This Olympic medalist will feature alongwith Footballer Ryan Giggs and Australian Open Champion, Amelie Mauresmo.

Apart from being the new face of the campaign 'I Am What I Am', Khan will also have his own signature gloves, kit and shoes.

This British boxing star said that he has had two 'exciting' years, from winning the Olympic Silver to the Reebok deal and everything was just 'fantastic'.

Reebok, the UK based leading sportswear company, has developed an elite clientele of international athletes

I take your point Frank about the loss of Hatton and there ia also the continuing acrimony following his departure not to mention chucking away k's of ££££ in costs to the legal bandits whether or not Warren wins at the end of the day.

Having said that this price fall has been overdone and that negative sentiment is more than already in the price. As Michaelmouse has said investing decisions are based upon future expectations. We make money by buying cheap and selling dear, ok sometimes we lose but so long as we win more than we lose we are not unhappy. My judgement here is there is a few bob to be made out of sop because as has already been mentioned the price moves disproportionaly to the actual trades - viz - few trades move the price a lot and I aim to still be there when it goes up and have just added another 100k. Good luck to us all.

Frank - I suspect your investment strategy is as good as the 'imaginary' bet you placed on Lacey. Patience is a virtue Frank. In 18 months the share price will be many multiples of its current value. SOP is listed on AIM and taper relief applies.
By the way I hate to tell you this but buffoon has two f's. With the money you make tomorrow buy yourself a dictionary.
P.S. Don't reply tonight. I going to settle down and watch the re-run of Calzaghe vs Lacey on ITV4 at 10:00p.m.
P.P.S Whatever you do don't put another £5000 on Lacey ;0)

"what you all need to grasp is the effect of Hatton leaving. This has resulted in over £2m taken off the yearly contract with ITV."

Frank what you need grasp is who cares? Investing is about future returns and what may or may not have been lost when Hatton left will be more than compensated for as Khan progresses. In another 18 months T.V. companies will be falling over themselves to secure the rights for Khan's fights. Calzaghe is now gold dust, Williams may secure a shot at a world title, Skelton will probably get a re-match with Williams and possibly get a world title fight himself. Harrison/Guzman has been re-sheduled for May. Every report indicates that Boxing's popularity is rapidly increasing again. The future is looking very bright. If you take all this into consideration (alongside the fundamentals)then the investment case for SOP is very strong.
I wasn't going to post again since I have only invested a small amount so far. However, as the price has dipped I feel very tempted to start buying and clear up any stock overhang. Given the illiquidity of this stock watch the price rise!!! The question is when shall I buy? tomorrow, the day after, next week, next month....? Ummm......

Tintang....what you all need to grasp is the effect of Hatton leaving. This has resulted in over £2m taken off the yearly contract with ITV.This is going to have a huge effect on the financials.

There is only Calzaghe and Harrison left that make SOP money.....Guzman will take out Harisson so that will leave the nearly retired Calzaghe.

What more do you need to know you barking numptys....get busy get busy!!!!!

I have made a nice turn a couple of times with this share buying in around 3p, it's been third time unlucky this time around but I am bu99ered if I can discover just why it is sinking so fast on absolutely no published news.

One trade has been shown today which was 30k @1.9p - and that has been recorded as a buy! - so if correct this boat is hitting the rocks fast - but why? Any sensible ideas out there now fb is being blocked?

I personaly only see movement up on known facts, so what is it that we don't know?

Amir Khan will not only be a world champ but very long reigning and successful to boot making sop lots of dosh, so long as he doesn't fall out with fw.

Something tells me we should be filling our boots, I know these guys are not popular with the city and those fellers can make things tough when the boat is rocky but greed overcomes all other motives and they will be falling over themselves to buy in when sop finally starts making money.

Amir Khan has struck a deal with sportswear company Reebok which makes him the first boxer to endorse the brand.

The 19-year-old Olympic silver medallist, who has now turned pro, joins Manchester United's Ryan Giggs and Mike Skinner, the frontman from UK band The Streets, as brand ambassadors for Reebok.

Khan's first appearance for Reebok will be in the brand's next UK-wide 'I am What I Am' campaign. The sportswear company has designed and manufactured RbK gloves, kit and boots for his fights.

Khan says: "This is an amazing thing for me. I used to look up to sports stars such as Imran Khan and now it's going to be me on the billboard. I'm giving Asian kids out there a path to follow. This has given me a real boost in my quest to be World Champion and I look forward to promoting boxing with Reebok in the UK and beyond."

Andy Towne, Reebok's European marketing vice president, said: "The 'I Am What I Am' campaign is intended to inspire young people to find their own voice by celebrating contemporary icons.

"Amir's passion, success, unique talent along with his position as a 'real' modern role model makes him an ideal ambassador for us."

The multimedia 'I Am What I Am' campaign, created by New York ad agency mcgarrybowen, breaks on 12 March.
