Yes, but most of the gas sales were fixed at historically very low prices. By the way, nl gas is now trading 35x higher than two years ago. SOU will see none of that benefit on phase 1. As for phase 2, based on history here, you'd be a fool to expect much either

European gas is now trading today 30x or 3000% higher than normal. The fact the sou share price sits at or close to all time lows says everything and all you need to know about the market's faith in the ability of management to score an open goal opportunity here....!!!!

We supposedly have one of the most in demand commodities in the world right now with a fair chance at finding more with some more drilling. The conditions can not get any better for sou, but still management can't score in an open goal. It's says a lot about the prospects here......quite incredible how the prospects have completely cratered in the last 3-4yrs for sou no matter who is in charge....

My thoughts are that it is no surprise that once sound had some traction beneath their wheels oops up Pops this BS tax bill. Wheels within wheels. If you are fighting a sovereign body then you are going to loose. Especially when that sovereign body has an oil and gas empire.

The tax issue is around applying Moroccan tax law to the facts rather than the interpretation of the tax law itself. If the application or understanding of the facts is wrong (a mistake as GL calls it) then this could change the outcome. That’s what this all appears to boil down to. SOU on appeal need to make it plain, unambiguous and crystal clear what the facts are. They probably stand a better chance in a higher court.

Not sure of the relevance of that telbap? Makes me more not less worried. Anyway, facts are the Moroccan tax authorities aren't backing down, and if we lost the argument on this 2.6m, the remaining 34m is a company killing issue. A binary yes/no that no one can predict, but if it goes against us there is no more sound, that's it. That's not yet priced in yet but it will be as people wake up and realise. Would Morocco prefer Sou to own and benefit from the gas, or the Moroccan people, especially if it can be dressed up in this way, ie naughtily JP and his mgt team didn't pay due taxes!! Seems very plausible to me.

Just read GL's comment in the RNS, it says it all. He's clearly very worried about not this but what it means. We were never going to win this 36m usd claim, we're fighting the Moroccan govt and are nothing to them, other than a western O&G company that's not got a single monetised molecule out of the licences we have for over 12yrs.....what a track record!

Just take a look at what the Russians have done in terms of taking back huge oil and gas projects from western companies. We live in new scary times, nothing is impossible.
