Getting close to some news now. I was interested that the Chance of Sucess (COS) at Badile is quoted at about 34%. This COS come from a competent person report and is made up of 4 factors - source rock, migration, reservoir and trap. A probability between 0 and 1 is given to each element and the output is the COS. If for example ( and I don't know what the actual figures are) a value of 0.8 was given to each element then the COS would be 0.8. X 0.8 x 0.8 x 0.8 = 41%. Therefore, it would seem that a high probability is given to each aspect. Brian seem to suggest the Badile seismic was excellent - this would indicate a potential reservoir and trap. Regarding source rock and migration - well the surrounding area is hydrocarbon rich and proven and I guess the unknown is the migration to form a gas/oil reservoir. No doubt all will be revealed soon but it is good to know that SOU have on board local talent that know the area well. Getting interesting again now - also decided to go for a small top up but DYOR.

steelwatch, As far as I can tell no new presentation slides were used at the AGM, and James talked to the April'17 Q2 Investor Presentation. Could I suggest that this presentation be added to the header.

I am a little bit surprised that we dont have an RNS on Badile today. The company said on the AGM that they should reach target depth in 5-7 days. Which would have been from Sunday until today. The company has sent out and RNS every time they have reached the target depth in the previous wells they have drilled, with some brief indication what they have seen in the reservoir.

7 Oct 2016 - Tendrara: TE-7 - Completion of Drilling and Log Results "Consistent with those seen in the drilling of TE-6, the Company has observed significant gas shows from the TAGI sandstones."

2 Jun 2016 - Tendrara: Completion of Drilling "The Company identified significant gas shows whilst drilling the reservoir and the full set of acquired logs will be now processed. The Company confirms that a total gross pay of 89 metres has been identified."

I know the so called more informed...in SOU will have a differing view, but I still believe Sou will be sold at a premium earlier than expected.

You should be imo. If you're investing in part on those terms the market is realising a good way ahead of you that your investment case (exit strategy) is very likely to be or is already compromised.

Anyway, lets pick up in December.


Confident Tendrara and Meridja will either see a farmin or a sale based on staged payments this year. Success at Sidi and Badile could form part of the package or be sold independently. Echo beckons.

Buffy, I share your thoughts on SAVP. I sold about 20% of my SOU holding for a small loss to add to my position in SAVP.

I'm considering selling a few more ahead of the Badile results as if this fails I do fear Chelly's marching band will be having a ball in the 50's.

I agree regarding your comments on JP, and of course Luca and Brian. Luca wanted to drill further out but, as I understand it, he was overruled by BM &a Schlumberger.

My one reservation is trying to shoehorn in enough drilling with one rig. I suspect the $27m worth of seismic may convince them to ramp up the schedule and get a second rig. Clearly the rampathon that JP created has created the malaise we are now experiencing. The Shard and the Gherkin was packed, but those who were at the AGM were surprised at the half empty auditorium.

I was always a critic of the hyperbole, but the assets are there; of that I'm convinced. I'm slightly more optimistic than you on the timetable. JP has set himself up well in ECHO, and I think he'll leave more on the table with SOU than he would have previously.

The OGIF deal was pragmatic, and both protects us and benefits us in other ways. JP has done a good job; and he'll tell you that he knew exactly what he was doing when he breathlessly declared the loss of the ball.

Number one will always be number one.

I have half the shares I had a few months back, but that's more down to AAOG and SAVP than SOU.
