17/8/2017 09:02 | Some brokers hold the dividend in a separate dollar account and the investors needs to convert to sterling oneself, I don't use Selftrade but might be worth checking. | interceptor2
17/8/2017 08:39 | No SOM dividend in my Selftrade account yet | adamb1978
17/8/2017 08:21 | It is worth remembering that Somero have been affected by adverse weather in the US before, on 8th April 2014 in their full year results they cautioned about a slow start to the year because of cold weather. By the AGM statement in May the situation have improved strongly as delayed contracts were giving a boost, and then the next trading update in July 2014 confirmed that they would be comfortably ahead. After which the share price advance strongly. A similar situation to this year which gives confidence to myself that management are trustworthy, the outlook statement will be interesting next month for the USA which is 70% of groups revenue. Agree Graham that the share price did advance quickly above the recent trend, so a period of consolidation was to be expected and also a healthy occurrence. | interceptor2
17/8/2017 08:12 | Ditto Shanklin | glaws2
17/8/2017 08:11 | Have been credited with the SOM dividend into my HL SIPP overnight at just over 10p/share. | shanklin
17/8/2017 06:18 | I agree with you Graham - the downbeat AGM statement pulled the price back and while the more positive trading update in July reversed this we have had the summer period of very light trading volumes in which small caps frequently drift off. | glaws2
16/8/2017 20:20 | The recent comments on here all make eminent sense, but I do wonder if you are looking too deeply into the recent share price weakness. IMO the rise between March and May this year was somewhat excessive based on the company's immediate potential, especially as too much expectation was placed on the Trump infrastructure boom as this was never going to have any significant impact on Somero's specialist market. A retrace was inevitable (particularly given the slightly downbeat trading update) and that has been pushed further with the special dividend coming out of the price. PS Mind you the sudden fall mid-morning today was a little unnerving! | grahamburn
16/8/2017 19:34 | Hi adamB1978True - I don't have a breakdown of revenue by state either, which is why I'm giving Somero the benefit of the doubt.Perhaps it's worthwhile just rehearsing the other issues facing Somero.1) China - I do have sympathy with Somero over their long-standing inability to break into the Chinese market. As I understand it from their presentation, there are two factors at play. First, there is understandable frustration by Somero over a lack of consistent regulation/specifica | chashley1806
16/8/2017 18:30 | Trump is squaring for a trade war with China. Being a US company trying to build a footprint there, Somero might be perceived to have an increased risk profile, in light of this. | crazycoops
16/8/2017 17:54 | Chashley The weather reason could be genuine - I dont know their breakdown of revenue by state nor the weather there this year, but it could be right. There could also be other simple reasons like management's attention being diverted with the the Florida expansion etc. It was a surprise as you say, however at least the half sounds like it ended well. Still expecting a private equity offer for them at some point... Adam | adamb1978
16/8/2017 15:32 | Hi ali47fishNo special insights as such as to why the share price has fallen, but I'm asking the same question. Thoughts in my head are as follows:1) The share price fall could be a result of the general market malaise in light of the current North Korea/US nuclear standoff. Assuming that Mr Trump and Mr Kim stop waving their willies at each other then, all other things remaining equal, the share price should rise again.2) I'm wondering whether the market is becoming a little impatient of Mr Trump's (lack of) infrastructure plans. To be clear, I see Somero as being indirect beneficiaries of this. Their equipment is not tailored to road or rail building, but they will benefit from supplying equipment to build new factories that spring up next to new infrastructure. However, I've heard precious little of how Trump intends to implement his infrastructure plans, and I wonder whether the "soft" Somero share price reflects this.3) I am still perturbed by Somero's excuse for its less-than-stellar latest trading update, where it blamed bad weather for its woes. Frankly, blaming the weather is akin to blaming Brexit - a convenient scapegoat that poorly-managed companies use when they fail to adjust to or plan for known risks. Whilst accepting that construction is weather-dependent, the reason why I am a little critical of Somero's use of this excuse is because, unlike the UK, the US (their main market) is not dominated by one weather-system. In other words, the factors that determine California's weather are very different to those affecting New England. I've been giving Somero the benefit of the doubt so far (given their excellent record to turn the company round from near bankruptcy after the 2008 financial crash). However, I will expect them to sharpen their act up with the explanations at the next trading update.Be interested to hear other people's views. | chashley1806
16/8/2017 10:31 | I thought that the last trading update was rather positive and did buy back in here due to this update, interims are due next month and I think that the probability would favour an ahead trading update before the full year results next year. My stop is set a level that should be a safe but you can never tell, if my stop was hit then I would sell of course, but would be looking for future updates that might allow a re entry. Hopefully the share price will find support before my stop comes into play. | interceptor2
16/8/2017 10:21 | in the meantime does anyone with insight knows why the share price has been in free fall? | ali47fish
16/8/2017 09:32 | It's 13.3 US cents per share, but if held outside a SIPP it will have 30% US withholding tax deducted, or 15% if you have filed a W8-BEN form. | stepone68
15/8/2017 20:42 | HL said I will get it tomorrow or the day after. For what I hold it only comes to about £250 or so. They said something about 13 cent a share. | scooper72
15/8/2017 19:48 | Nothing from iWeb (Halifax) | stepone68
15/8/2017 12:54 | Thanks - still not received mine from HL | glaws2
15/8/2017 07:31 | I haven't had it from IG either | saj3
15/8/2017 00:23 | Maybe I need to call Hargreaves Landsdown and ask them why they are behind | scooper72

14/8/2017 17:05 | Anyone received the dividend payment yet ? | glaws2
06/8/2017 16:04 | I believe it was due to the previous shareholders that listed it, lots of commentary on Paul Scott's interviews over on stocko###ia | deanowls
05/8/2017 21:29 | Dan Have a quick check of the listing requirements for NYSE and Nasdaq - they're pretty bloody stringent. They'd need to trade on the Pink Sheets in the US which, whilst I'm not an expert in US OTC trading, makes AIM look like a highly reliable, rigorously regulated exchange! Adam | adamb1978
05/8/2017 16:17 | Have the board here given a reason why they are listed on AIM rather than the US markets? Always a slight concern, so is there an underlying reason for this? | dan_the_epic |
