I believe it was due to the previous shareholders that listed it, lots of commentary on Paul Scott's interviews over on stocko###ia

Dan

Have a quick check of the listing requirements for NYSE and Nasdaq - they're pretty bloody stringent. They'd need to trade on the Pink Sheets in the US which, whilst I'm not an expert in US OTC trading, makes AIM look like a highly reliable, rigorously regulated exchange!

Have the board here given a reason why they are listed on AIM rather than the US markets? Always a slight concern, so is there an underlying reason for this?

As well as transferring the stock to another provider, Barclays holders can also opt to hold the stock in certificated form (how quaint!). Then eventually they can sell the stock whenever through someone like the Share Centre, who apparently deal in certificated stock.

Often have to buy on the phone with Fool, but it's painless enough.

So, what is the Barclays deadline for selling out of SOM, etc and which other stocks are affected please?

I will retain the SOM I already hold but I guess this may give rise to some bargains.

Thank you, Martin

My understanding is that customers have been given a week to either sell or transfer the stock. Little doubt that this will affect the share price in the short term.

Good to see SOM appearing at the top of this list of highest quality companies on AIM (as well as SCH) - SOM has a Quality Rank of 100 out of 100!

They are changing to 'smart investor' (sic) and the new platform can't hold any stocks like SOM which they seem to regard as foreign. I have complained but been told I sell them, give they to charity or set up an account with someone else and transfer them there!! This is at they same time as increasing annual charges x10!! I find hard to believe what they are doing and what they are calling it!

My apologies for not replying earlier but I have only just seen your post 1248.

Yes, HL support both SIPPs and ISAs. I have always found HL to be excellent in terms of the quality of their administration both in relation to mundane day-to-day issues and/or for corporate actions. I am much less convinced that they are top league when it comes to obtaining keen prices, or managing to deal in volume, illiquid stocks. For that I would be looking for a genuine full-service broker; even if one is phone dealing, and paying much larger commissions, the idea of dealing well within the spread is not something I have found HL dealers even understand let alone support.

Hope this helps. Cheers, Martin

It's due to be paid on 14 Aug. Based on previous experience, SOM send out physical cheques still, so different brokers credit the dividend on different dates, up to two weeks later in some cases.

Thank you for your replies.

My SOM is in a SIPP with HL so I now understand I should get the full dividend.

Best Regards, Martin

shanklin the sipp isa tax withholding question was answered when the last dividend was paid in April look at posts 1100 onwards. I misunderstood the whole thing at that point.

If you hold in the SIPP you don't pay the witholding tax so expect ~10p.
