By my reckoning this has been the best performing stock in the uk over the last five years. I couldn't think of another stock that has come anywhere close to 28x return.Any ideas?

PI, there's nothing set in stone about the special dividend. Finncap state that SOM will consider how much and when it'll be after this H1, when they know for certain how large the cash pile is.

Good to see Simon Thompson continuing to back SOM today, cheers.

I actually used the proceeds from the takeover of TTR for this purchase, so I'd not be happy to see another holding taken over prematurely!

That being said, I will be looking to add more over the coming weeks.

Simon Thompson has re-tipped SOM in this week's IC. He's upping his price target in line with Finncap to 325p.

Nice summary MrChriss, welcome.

I notice that in their latest note, Finncap say:

- net cash should increase to nearly $26m by this year end
- they suggest a special dividend of say $10m, equating to almost 15p per share
- together with the core dividend this would give a total dividend yield of over 9%
- SOM's rating is still significantly lower than their US (and also UK) peers

The latter point backs up Adam's point that SOM may become a takeover target, especially imo given the age of the CEO.

Joining the party a little late here, after looking at SOM last August but buying in only last week.

Happy holder, now up 99% since i bought in! I'm expected this to be acquired in the next 12 months though - valuation isnt overly demanding, low capital requiresments, proven management and strong underlying drivers.

That is what i found most interesting in today's results was the geographical reach. Low penetration into China and, importantly, early signs of activity on the sales front looking promising. To me, there looks like loads to go for in this just one market alone.

Europe also looks in a similar situation along with Scandinavia and Australia also showing signs of promise.

All this and not counting USA which could be huge if Trumps plans come to fruition.

This one goes up in 5 or 6 candle sticks over a 10 day period, check the chart. Plenty more to come.

New Buyers are just going to have to be patient and then wait for the next leg up after consolidation.
