Lowtrawler .

No way of knowing what is going on . Either way i cannot see us staying at 20p for much longer . 74 sites and a tier 1 mine cannot be worth 390 million .

Lefrene i agree with you .

mknight, one has no idea what is going on, it's all speculation, but Alpalla is a jewel of such quality that there are several interested parties. But very few have the resources to purchase it solely for themselves and thus seek to engage in a joint enterprise which combined will provide the resources. The big bully who wants it just for himself has been able to bide his time waiting to see if NM falls over, but now with a viable route for NM to keep much of the prize to himself, the big bully has to make decision.

Everyone needs to calm down and consider what is actually new about the information received. It isn't much. They have appointed Citi as financial advisers for fundraising (big deal, so what)? Citi will help arrange a defence against any hostile takeovers (no bids received, nothing unexpected here). BHP will respond to any hostile bid.

If anything, it sounds like SOLG warning off any potential bidders, helped by their friends at BHP.

Lefrene maybe today even . Those buying have some time ..as always the last half an hour will show us how long . If we dont see a mad rush then there is more time but the defences are being put up as we speak .

With take-off agreements being lined up but not yet entered into, this must concentrate hearts and minds at BHP/Newcrest. Take it now and move towards opening the mine and hold off take off agreements for a better price in the future. BHP has the clout to take it and develop it without diluting returns through take off agreements now. So perhaps there's quite a lot going on behind the scenes? At some point it will get reflected in the price.

Has to be, just over 300k bought at 20.50p and selling dried up, it should be a quick attack with brutal force at 21.50p

The key is breaking 23p. The last fund raise from BHP is acting as a ceiling on the price. If we break through 23p, next stop is 30.

Not sure the chinese would worry about BHP. Especially not the state run ones .

Btw i think 21p will be gone very soon looking at level 2 .

The way i see it is you sell you might make a profit of 2p straight away .. if you hold especially at the moment you might make a profit of 30 times more

A bird in the hand .. i understand but i am holding
As 2p can be made tomorrow .

BHP are in prime position. They already own 15%, understand the business inside out and have existing management relationships. Of course they will respond if a bid comes in.The relationship with BHP will also be what limits other bidders showing an interest.

The only proven site is Alpala. It is possible one of the other prospects gets proven but, as with any explorer, those prospects are currently worth peanuts. When you speak of 58bn, that's like trying to value Tesco on the basis of their turnover rather than profits / cashflow. The only indicated value for Alpala comes from the NPV in the PEA.

The comment by BHP is an interesting one. Makes me think that if an offer comes in they will react .

Lefrene back into the bidder .😃

Plainly there's a difference between an official bid, and enquiries of interest over the phone. Having gone 'official' over the interest in take-off agreements, NM would of course do the same for a serious documented offer.

It's plain there's going to be some sort of fiat currency crisis before very long, I would guess putting fiat trash into real assets is becoming increasingly attractive. One of the nice problems if there is a major bid for Solg, is where do you put the fiat reward?

You don't want management time wasted constantly defending against lowball bids. However, if you get one serious bid, everyone else will need to put up or shut up.

Alpha will produce over 58 billion dollars and we have another 14 site if.not better then alpha, even a 500p a.share bid comes it's still a bargain

It's like a battle plan, bids will be coming and we are getting ready to defend it why! Let bids come thick and fast, current share price is a disgrace

If the share price rises more then 20% today they will have to issue a statement

I suspect the FT were given sight of the speech NM will make on the webinar. Interesting that they would want to defend against bids. I would have thought they'd be open to bids as long as they weren't lowball. If they had received any serious bids, they would have had to tell the market first and so I'm not convinced this indicates anything we don't already know.

ntbb, NM has mentioned in the past that they get offers, but plainly they are not serious and of sufficient substance to interest NM. You can't issue an rns every time some CEO rings you up and says "how about $3 billion for the lot". It would have to be a published offer, allowing others to make counter offers. If it's not from one of the existing big holders then it would have to be of such size that recognised $58 billion in Alpalla and the same again for the rest of Solg? Perhaps $8 to $10 billions? Yes I'm an optimistic holder :¬)
