It's all great fun speculating who may make an offer and at what price. It's also great fun to dream about taking it forward ourselves. However, it's just plain wrong to think that the current value of the metal in the ground belongs to the current shareholders.

Anyone looking to takeover SOLG will want the lions share of the value to themselves. I have speculated 80% but the truth is nobody really knows until it happens.

If we take it forward ourselves, we are going to have to bring in additional funding of around GBP 3Bn, diluting current shareholders significantly as it won't all be through loans.

I believe fair value on the current business is somewhere between 60p and 90p. Extracting that value will depend on funding or a takeover. If it's funding, I can see the price recovering to around 45p. If it's a takeover, I can't see it being sold for less than 60p as there will be a lot of competition. Without either, 20p is still too low but there is likely a ceiling of around 25p given the current market.

Dragged on too long.Heard so many positive interviews by NM.
MRE will be much better than expected etc
But now is the time to get plans in place and tell shareholders.
NM is well connected and i'm sure highly respected.
He hasn't let us down so far. GLA

ntbb, the other big holders in Solg know it's true commercial value, only Newcrest might accept a low ball offer if they are going to be included in the mining operation, but I can't see Blackrock accepting a cheap buy out. The wait goes on, metal prices will increase, the prize will get juicier.

Maybe he does not want to take 1.5 billion for 22 million oz of gold in the ground worth 35 billion less 3.5 billion for the costs to get it out plus a billion in silver and another 40 billion plus in copper .

I think bhp has been treated unfairly by nick mather, they paid from 22p to 45p a share for about 15% and clause expires in less then 5 months time to stop them from increasing stake, but it doesn't stop them from an out right bid so before likes of barricks get in bhp should stick a finger up nick mather and make a bid for about 50p to 100p range, and before anyone says it's too low which is, it's better then the current price!

One can only conclude that NM is holding out for a deal that meets his own valuation. Eventually something will happen....................

In the trade and many outside know what they have . NM has the problem of how he can continue exploration for 14 sites without any money at the moment .This imho can be sorted out with JV.s on many of the 14 projects becoming a producer at Alpala and getting others to produce the 14 other sites . A bit of a Cornerstone but making a better agreement. We give them the site for nothing and they pay all costs giving us 10/20 percent of the minerals .

We take a loan for the production of Alpala.

ntbb, NM's stock in trade for years has been, 'good things are just around the corner', well it's done nowt for the share price thus far.

All one knows for sure is that Cascabel/Alapala are huge and commercially viable, and that eventually something will happen. But that 'something' could as easily be two or three years away, or the middle of next week.

No careerist is going to put his kneck on the line without a bankable feasibility study, so that leaves a maverick outlier like Gina Rinehart who could act in their own name, as a possible early predator.

One thing for sure, 5 years from now when things are on the mend and metal prices are mcuh higher, there are going to be people who wished they had got their hands on this easy start, quick pay back mine, when it was going cheap.

Correct push the prices up 20..20.50

So they attract sells ..

At the moment more are buying than selling .

They are just making their hole bigger .

MK how do you work that out...

Selling 800k at 19 and 400k at 19.5 you don't push the price UP to buy the stock in to replace...

MMs make most of their money selling stock they don't have and buying it in cheaper...

I would have thought if they want to fill the books it would be better to push the price higher to try and get some sellers .

Surely, after those huge buys they've taken the price down to try and rebuild their books...

Mean while, CGP closed up 11.11% overnight...successful takeover coming...?

The MMs are trying to ensure an orderly market given an event which they are aware of but we are not. Could simply be the directors trades going through but it might also be other news.
