01/4/2020 22:49 | SOLG is one of only a couple of shares I haven't sold out. I accept what dimitri is saying, the price will move with the market and the market is heading down. However, there are a couple of reasons why SOLG may also spike up: 1. We are due news on MRE3 and funding - if this is positive, SOLG can be expected to buck the trend. 2. As the most attractive Tier 1 takeover target, it seems likely there will be an acquisition attempt at some point. Even if neither of these events occur, the long-term fundamentals for SOLG as a standalone enterprise are good which makes it a good bet for returning my investment with interest once the bear market subsides. I don't blame dimitri for exiting but we will need to wait and see whether it was a wise move. | ![]() lowtrawler

01/4/2020 22:17 | Willem Middelkoop (Commodities Discoveries Fund) interviewed by National Investor mentions how Solgold $SOLG $SOLG.L #cascabel #ecuador is not damaged by current market crisis at 23:10 mins. | ![]() pob69
01/4/2020 18:14 | Alpala has a remarkably short pay back time of 3.5 years or less, the other resources of Cascabel are close, such that I would think capital sunk into infrastructure for Alpala will have some affect in reducing costs to develop other parts of Cascabel. If you are seriously wanting to do a mine start up in Ecuador, Cascabel looks about as good as it gets. | ![]() lefrene
01/4/2020 17:56 | I was obviously painting the broad picture. The chart shows clearly that free cash flow tanks from year 13 onwards to about 1/3rd its peaks and steadily drops to zero by year 36 and nil up to end of 'life' in year 60. Whether ab operator would deem it worthwhile to keep going at any point in between depends on what return he expects from the effort being put in to continuing to mine, even if theoretically he's still making a (small) profit. But my point is that for all practical purposes, a major looking only for long life mines (as all of them require) might not consider Alpala to be 'long ;life'. | ![]() dozyduck
01/4/2020 17:54 | Good job Lowtawler . Remind me never to cross you . Duffyduck one for the filter . | ![]() mknight
01/4/2020 17:41 | DD, I checked your 13 year assertion and it is simply not true. The chart on page 410 of the PEA shows that the mine is highly cash generative for 35 years into the project. Also, the mine produces "real" sales revenue of around 1bn per year from 35-55. It is hardly the 13 year life to which you refer. Of course, the revenues in the early years are much higher at about 3bn but the later revenues are still substantial. | ![]() lowtrawler

01/4/2020 15:55 | NM, has spoken in terms of "multi generational" life of mine. Currently cheap oil will be significantly helping those miners at nearly depleted mines as they extract lower and yet lower concentrations of the metal, hanging onto the perch just a little bit longer. It would be of interest to know what level of capital expenditure these almost worked out mines are making, since there's no point pouring capital into a rusted out old banger? | ![]() lefrene
01/4/2020 15:07 | As I posted before, if gold gets to $3,300 its value to Alpala would become half the total, which itself would get back to the PEA value even if copper stays low. Likely buyers, I would have thought, will be Americas based copper producers looking to replace their depleting copper resources, but any major would want a long life project, and might not regard Alpala's 13 years profitable phase as long enough. | ![]() dozyduck
01/4/2020 14:41 | Whether China has recovered or not they see the imperative of getting back to business, and thus will present themselves as having recovered. Give it a couple of weeks and I suspect that the USA will spin a similar story and then the rest of the West will follow. Now they all have a nasty bug upon which to blame the economic medicine that will follow. I'm just hoping that gold follows the pattern of 08 and becomes seen as a haven once open positions in the casino have been covered, and a bit of unencumbered free cash comes available. I notice Germany is swinging towards hydrogen cars and using this hiatus to tool up for a big swing, while at the same time constructing the infrastructure. Electric cars without 'range anxiety'. That has to be good to help copper demand. | ![]() lefrene
01/4/2020 14:25 | China has recovered from the virus no doubt rest of the world will follow | ![]() ntbb |
