30/5/2019 11:25 | A good clear rns, $17 billion just in taxes alone from just one site, no wonder that politico was getting excited about paying down the national debt. A pity in other announcements they are not so clear about the amounts of money potentially available. But considering that Alpalla is just one site in Cascabel, and there are a potential 12 other Cascabels in preliminary exploration, one gets an idea of the possible vast wealth in Ecuador. | lefrene
30/5/2019 11:23 | Right. Can we please get back to business now! A massive amount of panic created over seemingly nothing. All that monster copper and gold is still there and no doubt the majors still want it for themselves. | alwaysevolving

30/5/2019 11:21 | There has been no indication from the Ecuadorean government that SolGold's tenure is at risk. The Cascabel project is a key project in Ecuador's developing mining industry and a critical driver for the future of Ecuador's economy. SolGold continues to receive full and objective support from the Ecuadorean government. SolGold recently announced findings from its Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) for the Alpala deposit in the Cascabel project in Northern Ecuador. The project indicated approximately US$17bn (at US$3.30/lb copper price and US$1,300oz gold price) in taxes, royalties and profit shares to the government and peoples of Ecuador. SolGold is committed to building an integrated explorer, appraiser and miner in the copper industry in Ecuador, and enjoys the support of two of its major shareholders, Newcrest and BHP The Company currently employs approximately 500 Ecuadoreans, and its staff is 97% Ecuadorean. The project will provide substantial and ongoing support for local, and a variety of, Ecuadorean industries and companies, and provide a platform for growth in the GDP of Ecuador. SolGold aims to replicate this project on other locations thought the country as part of its plan to create an intergenerational company in Ecuador. | billthebank

30/5/2019 10:52 | Billthebank, little more than 1% of the shares have been traded, so it would seem that the big holders are sitting on their hands. I would expect the government to do it's best to calm ruffled nerves, and perhaps keep the natives sweet by bringing in new regulations and a body to enforce them. Although in that part of the world I doubt there is much confidence in regulations being properly enforced. The government is seeing just how fragile the perch of said 'golden goose' can be, so perhaps they will up their game to help expedite things for the miners? | lefrene

30/5/2019 10:19 | well I cant believe that solg has dropped to this level. What is the smart money doing Seems like there have been a lot of sells recently. Particularly large ones at that. Are some trying to trade this having been in so long? All very strange. DO investors really think that Ecuador will kill the golden goose? Surprised no company announcement. 25% drop is serious devaluing of SOLG. Can see this rising quickly back into the low 30s!!! | billthebank

30/5/2019 09:47 | If the government is looking to mining to dig themselves out of their $52 billion debt, then perhaps observing the current effect that local issues can have on things of national importance, might concentrate a few hearts and minds in smoothing the path a bit more for the industry? I would guess a lot of hacked off miners and explorers are making their feelings felt to the appropriate minister. There might be a silver lining yet to this passing cloud. jovi1, trawl back a few posts you will find a link from pob69 and a translation. | lefrene

30/5/2019 09:40 | hi all what is it this court case ? thanks | jovi1
30/5/2019 09:39 | NO need for BHP to commit currently. They prefer to wait for risk to be reduced with their investments. They are keeping their options open by having a stake in several Ecuadorian projects. Not a chance they increase position with a court case being held overf a country. Impossible to justify that to shareholders | 5070481
30/5/2019 09:39 | Over done, bought some this am, will be back to yesterday's close within a a week. | telbap |
