It's such a shame than price is stuck in a rut.
Should be 45ish before PEA.
Agree One thing is certain NM got better negotiating skills.
Also a better team player.
IMHO

Saucepan, I suspect that the PEA will not be released until we have more drill permits to enhance the company value. The danger with Solg is that it will get taken out too cheaply, though I suspect that NM has rather better negotiating skills than T May! I'd rather be kept in the dark a bit longer for the company to muster as much value as possible, than to show our hand too early.

I don't have access to the full 'Mining Journal' article. Can anyone confirm, please, whether it provides an updated quote from Nick Mather himself as to the timing of the PEA release?

I had thought that the last official guidance from the Company was that the PEA would be 'early February' - a deadline clearly missed.

Has there been any other statement as to expected release date?

We know Solg is of interest to the 'big boys' it seems like it's a Tier 1, but as Solg is not a producer but in fact a cash burning explorer then it remains a potentially cheap takeover prospect, however the big boys are perhaps a bit cautious these days and want Solg as de-risked as possible before muscling in. So that PEA as a minimum will have to see the light of day before knives are sharpened and the dust blown off the wallets.

If it's not the PEA that starts the game, then it could be a longer time frame as Solg flashes her knickers at the Canadian Banks to see who will back her.

Exactly. Knowing money going directly to the people in need.
Donated some furniture to local charity last week.
Van came empty,we remarked on this and men said
we've just delivered furniture for nothing to someone who didn't have any.
That is true charity work in my book.

This is the way forward.
Supporting communities directly in a constructive way.
Seeing where the investment is spent.
Knowing it has been put to good use.
Hope Solg carries on being an ethical company.

All of that is how I come to be flattered and baffled but I am a patient holder in the hope that if we do leave without a deal sterling will fall and the value of my holding will increase despite the stability of the SP

Lets look at some of the options.

Buyer and sellers have been equal thus the price stays the same .

Someone wants to buy us and knows if the price is held back the company buying may well get a better price .

Lack of news flow so the share price just drifts.

Probably somewhere in the above lies the truth .

LONGER-TERM INVESTMENTS
Since the bottom of the last down cycle, the Company has been building exposure to longer dated growth opportunities that have significant potential once the projects are derisked. We are pleased to report that a number of these delivered strong returns during the year.

....Outside of M&A, the Company has benefited from exploration success also. ...Another example is SolGold, an exciting copper exploration company in Ecuador. This is much earlier stage than Ero Copper but on the back of highly encouraging results two majors have built large positions on the share register which could easily accelerate returns for investors if the exploration drills continue to add to the resource potential.

Rio urged to take the plunge into M&A after record cash splash
By Brad Thompson Feb 28, 2019 — 7.45pm

The time is ripe for Rio Tinto to use its soaring share price and strong balance sheet to make a major acquisition in copper, according to boutique fund manager Tribeca Investment Partners.

Tribeca portfolio manager Ben Cleary said Rio should consider coming in over the top of BHP and Newcrest and buy SolGold and its copper assets in Ecuador.

"This is one we have been watching and we think the asset is better off in Rio's hands," he said.

Rio Tinto chief executive Jean-Sebastien Jacques says the company won't rush into M&A to address external growth concerns.

Mr Cleary said a potential $1.5 billion tilt at SolGold looked like at obvious option for Rio.
"It is a massive block cave operation, 400,000 tonnes of copper production for the next 40 years, and we think Rio is the best underground block cave miner," he said.

Rio should also consider OZ Minerals and its Carrepateena copper and gold project in South Australia or a much more ambitious deal out of left field involving $US19 billion, New York Stock Exchange-listed Freeport-McMoran, according to the fund manager.

Under a deal unlikely to be considered by Rio given its cautious approach to acquisitions, Mr Cleary said Freeport's unwanted businesses could be sold off while Rio retained the copper assets.
The ideas and suggestions were coming thick and fast on Thursday as the market turned its attention in earnest to what some worry are Rio's somewhat limited growth options.

Rio chief executive Jean-Sebastien Jacques has made it clear the company is on the lookout for aquisitions but will set the bar very high.
"We have a watching brief, we have a very high threshold in relation to [mergers and acquisitions]," he said on Wednesday.
"Are we looking at opportunities? The answer is yes, but we are not going to rush in M&A ... it has to really create value for shareholders." ......etc
