That is very interesting Noccer. Could I ask whether you have a geology background or similar cos I am not sure many of us here could do that sort of analysis.

While we sit and wait, I wondered about slide 29 on the latest corporate presentation that shows a 2D slice through Alpala with the maiden MRE in black (>1.5% CuEq) and the latest modelling of the same in pink. Areas can be measured by cutting out and weighing (with precision scales). My measurements show the pink slice is 2.23 times larger area than the old MRE, and if the expansion in the third dimension was of the same order then we are heading for a new high grade core that is not just twice as big as the original, but more than 3 times bigger. I realise that they may have picked a slice that looks particularly good, but slide 28 shows a top down view with the high grade core expanding in many directions.

Of course resource is determined not just by the volume but also by the grade of ore within that volume, but we have had some decent intercepts grade-wise since the MRE, and this presentation pre-dates assays from hole 64 which is supposed to have significant grades and may further expand the high grade core. Have to say I am really looking forward to the next resource estimate, could be a nice Xmas present.

And gold flying too . Weird that BHP sets the low price yet private traders are edgy at 39ish . We are virtually told this is not going to be sold for anything less than 45 .

BIt of weakness seen in miners generally yesterday. WHen people take money off the table the take it off across the board generally. When Newcrest originally bought in that never stopped the price falling below their purchase price. Very few companies can fight a general market malaise. Happy holding though. Still wish I hadnt been shaken out of my trading position earlier this year at 27

Good thinking zeus, options the most likely reason. Even 500k worth of sells should not equate to sudden drop, but when has actual buys and sells had anything to do with share price movement?

Seemed to be a 5x 100k sell close together this afternoon. More concerning that there weren't big buys to offset this despite a 5% drop in share price Speculate could be related to options? Who knows? After this week share price should settle into a more positive trend. Options expire at the end of the week.

148k sell order to clear @ 42p then 1.25m sell orders (250k * 5) at 44-45p

Some work to go yet

You would think that 45p would be the watermark now. But any increase in holdings by the big mining outfits would push us considerably higher going on past performance.gla

Starts this coming Tuesday - NM given top billing in this promotional material - top of page 3 which is an indication of SOLG-MATHER's growing reputation

One other possibility is a sale of one field or part thereof to fund exploitation of the rest. SOLG has enough land to give lots of options

For sure Nick has a plan and he is still too young to retire! He would be a good poker player IMHO.

Yes, it is intriguing and incredibly frustrating as I want to see inside the head of Mather and find out exactly what he's thinking and how he sees this panning out - grrrrr

Just going back to earlier comments on BHP and looking at this from Newcrest perspective. They've had a seat on the Board for a while now and haven't increased their stake. There will be relationships built up. Nick will have an idea of where they are coming from. So another consequence of limiting BHP's potential stake without Board approval is to flush out Newcrest. They may not be able to afford to buy SOLG but what is their endgame? SOLG must be looking a lot bigger than it did when they bought in. I'd suspect they are looking at either some joint involvement in Alpala or maximising shareholder value and getting out. Looking more likely that this is for the big boys now.

Can`t understand the price. Even BHP were willing to pay 45p. Perhaps some hope to jump back in when the MRE is published or bid rumours appear but in either case the price will be far north of 45p when the deal/upgrade is announced..

Great find

Nick once said Chinese interest is there.

Can’t remember when.

Where do you find the time to come up with gems like this?

It would have to be a large offer to prise BHP and Newcrest away from the glittering prize. They know this is a multi generational resource in a favourable location, they will know the true value of what they would be giving up and would want the compensation to recognise the value of the opportunity forgone. I do agree, not one to be out of over a weekend.

Just what I was thinking.
Don't care that I don't know what is going on behind the scenes.
As long as no one else does.
As you said NM runs a very tight ship.
That's how it should be and one reason we have held on to our shares.
Still time to buy for anyone not holding. IMHO.
