Ian, you don't prefer SKG?, Think that's more conservatively run - just a personal view.

Well I keep buying. I thought I'd grab a few more when it dipped under 320, but that's not looking so clever now. Oh, well, I'm still expecting this to look like a good buying opp in a few years.

Thanks Log
I was concerned about the note I read today
* At DS Smith, investors have focused on fears of packaging oversupply coming out of China and the debt accumulated by the firm

DS Smiths are in the right place at the right time with all the onslaught about the usage of plastics.

80% of all plastics in the seas, oceans and waterways around the world come from just 6 countries, including India and Indonesia.

That's an interesting stat, was not aware of that.

With plastic packaging being slowly replaced with paper packaging seems to bode very well for DS Smith.

Interesting 25% of all plastics in the seas, oceans and waterways round the world come from just 2 companies, Cocaocola and Pepsico.

I don't, I'm afraid, EI. Don't follow it that closely.

Apologies off topic - Ian, if you any view on the MAB update would be interested
to hear on the MAB board, if not that's fine, many thanks.

That's looking at SMDS in isolation,
these falls are not just confined to UK sector companies.
International Paper, the sector giant, has declined from near $65 to $43,
it dipped sub $40 a few weeks ago. While still reporting record results and
increasing dividends.

If prices can be put up, manufacturers have the upper hand

shorting is great news
they will have to buy back at some point!

Don't really see the logic in this, unless they're shorting packaging firms as a whole and throwing the baby out with the bathwater. DS Smith has little to no revenue from China and a small recent stake in the US.

Anyone have any insight on how the fundamentals would be affected by the current events which is scaring away the traders?

Yup, trade war is deeply changing the intrinsic value of DS Smith from one day to another, the company is worth much less now because of it and will forever be affected! :oD

But it all comes down to who's buying or selling. At the moment too many are selling for whatever reason. Looks like a drop to 300 perhaps. Personally, I'd wait to see what the results have to say. Always better to buy or sell facts in my experience...
