31/5/2007 07:33 | devere when they have to mention the banks... thats when you have to worry.. it implies they are watching their everey move, and breathing down their necks. When a company is forced to make that sort of statement, that's when you should start to worry.... if the banks get a whift the SMC's management isnt upto it...and the business isnt likely to improve.. they will call in their capital. | cyberpost
31/5/2007 07:30 | " The Group's bankers have confirmed they continue to be supportive of the Group in order to facilitate the changes required by the review " I am not a holder, but if I were, this sentence would make me worried. | skyracer
31/5/2007 07:26 | well, is that not the biggest damp squib update ever ? at least some heads have rolled and banks remain but what of the actual numbers ? unclear as ever really. | upside potential
31/5/2007 07:26 | SUPPORTIVE WITH A BIG OVERDARFY AND PROBABLY AT HIGHER LOAN COST BANKS DONT DO THIS FOR DIDDLY SQAT | zipstuck
31/5/2007 07:12 | Banks remain supportive - well at least that's some good news | devere
31/5/2007 07:11 | A fairly positive statement, showing steps in the right direction, but there are no details atm about how bad the profits have been hit.. | gary102
30/5/2007 16:54 | well its all fairly hefty buys this afternoon. Maybe there is good news about? Maybe this will be worth 100p next week? Maybe Watford wont get relegated from the premiership? Who knows. | paulcaine2003a
30/5/2007 16:44 | just got in and as you read all the negativity..you feel like pressing the panic button and selling everything...the problem with uncertainty...is that it is easy to imagine the worst..the longer there is no news...the mm's will exploit this ...and people are more likely to sell...hence people selling at the bottom..the word capitualtion has been used. personally decided to wait here for the news...i think we have oversold...am i postitive..no...but it was at 50p after the announcement..2 days later a further 20%...why??..fear thats why...plus all the new posters that suddenly get drawn to the daily % losers/winners list...with all their theories and although not holding..claim to have unbiased opinions...well hopefully news soon...but for me priced for a pop up ..not down. 30/5/2007 14:25 | Loads of profit warnings again on Aim, and they all get hammered, it needs some shrewd investing to pick the good ones at present. | topinfo
30/5/2007 14:24 | mamoth buys and plenty of them. Who is buying and why? Maybe some news?? Please let there be news! | paulcaine2003a
30/5/2007 14:19 | Blue today methinks.... | bridggar
30/5/2007 14:16 | not sure how many lurkers sold a bit higher but might still like a bit of the cake if we have fallen too low...then there are the naked shorters of course...probably a few of them...how narrow will the door be if they all want back in at once? | scotswhaehae
30/5/2007 14:07 | 'knowledgeable buying'? let's hope so! interesting timing anyway! | scotswhaehae
30/5/2007 14:00 | Board should have released figures today and until they do this will carry on down. Had to buy in again at 41.5p to close margin further. 48p now break even point. Nothing changed from friday. | up2day
30/5/2007 12:41 | So there goes any long-term confidence in this company. Very disappointing because with-out-a-doubt parts of their business are doing very well. | cool_hand
30/5/2007 12:36 | Thye had a duty to warn the market as soon as they knew their previous 'confident we're on track' statement was going to be proved wrong. Can't fault them there. Problem is, they're not sufficiently on the ball to spell out the full position. Most companies have a sufficient grip on the business to spell out the impact if certain factors go adverse. Not SMC apparently. | njp
30/5/2007 12:27 | Problem is we don't know - they don't seem to know and everything is (negative) speculation. Why release an RNS if you don't have the facts fully analysed? | cool_hand
30/5/2007 12:22 | This could just be a case of not fully researching the acquisitions thoroughly and therefore the damage will not be as significant. | paulcaine2003a
30/5/2007 12:06 | Clearly there need to be changes whatever the outcome is, c_h. The mere fact they appear not to know what's going on shows that. Silly thing is, they ought to be making a mint given the state of the industry. They absolutely must appoint people who can take advantage of that - and build up morale, which must be pretty desperate by now. Principals in all the acquired firms are holding near worthless paper for their businesses at the moment. Rebuilding confidence is an immediate concern if they're not to lose key staff. | njp
30/5/2007 12:03 | Agreed, they have turned this into a basket-case. If the previous positive statement turns out to be a damn lie heads must roll. | cool_hand
30/5/2007 11:53 | robert maxwell | matrix6
30/5/2007 11:52 | I hold for now - but it is nto a pleasant feeling. They must post some postive news soon - some contract wins, etc. Who is auditing their accounts? | cool_hand
30/5/2007 11:42 | You need clear signals before buying into this one again, anyone buying in now is gambling in my opinion. | gary102
30/5/2007 11:39 | Sorry Gary,it must have been a mirage, but who knows what may happen! We could all be kicking ourselves next week when the price shoots up by 15%.Pigs can fly in some circumstances you know, and it looks like my post has influenced hdenandy. It probably wouldn't take much to stimulate a whole bunch of get rich quick gamblers to dive into SMC and as far as I can see thats all we can hope for, insofar as the fundamentals are so poor. | dave7 |
