Instead of constantly tugging the pi chain, tugging the latest promised rig into the desired location would be most welcome news.

I was thinking that VAT but being shallow waters and watching some past tracking of the crazy boat paths wondered if the waters were in fact very shallow and needing piloting. I did see yesterday 10 miles S.W was a pilot and tug boat together like we saw several times in Dubai.Anyway that's what made me wonder.

1alfi, I think we would be ecstatic if they were positioned for spudding, let alone drilling! The share price would go up nicely and we would be reassured that we were getting derisked and were truly on our way.

bleemster: No, they wouldn't need a pilot vessel, they only need that inside port limits, and many of the supply ship masters will have pilot licences for some of the ports anyway.

Good to see the tidewater vessels prepping the adriatic for its move to ororo. Is it possible to have oil flowing before the end of the year. 45 day drill would leave approx 2 weeks from now to spud.

RNS 18.11.16 - Announces Well Management Contract with Add Energy. Enables company to commence multi well campaign offshore Nigeria in FIRST HALF OF 2017. But of course, this time it’s different. It’s only been two years after all.

Wonder if the force is ready to go yet?.would be a shame to see it sat idle after all that work has been carried out updating it for a five year certification.

If true to past form, "our" rig will be heading off to Thailand any day now.

bleemster: Most of these supply boats nowadays are multipurpose so they act as floating lorries to transport all sorts of materials to and fro, carry out anchor handling, and also act as tugs. It could well be the case that two of these ships that are attending the rig at the moment will also tow the rig to where she is going.

I wouldn't expect any materials, equipment or provisions for the next job to be loaded on to the rig at her current location. That will no doubt happen after she leaves her present position.

Two of them have been regular visitors to the rig, I'm not sure they would be loading the rig with new supplies for its next job whilst still being used by Someone else. Seems a little back to front and just wishful thinking based on how desperate we all are for this ball to get rolling? If what was posted last week I think by dr rosso that the current user and Sirius have got some kind of deal together the. Yes sure load up the rig for it's next location.Who knows, I think personally I'm keeping an eye out for tug boat activity or for AIS to be turned off. Yes, rig movement being public would be price sensitive information for the market so likely the AIS would more than likely be turned off but hoping that's not the case.

That is clever, Bleemster. Love it. Still, they may not be tugs but to see four supply boats all of a sudden is out of the ordinary isn’t it?

Bleemster, or anyone with a laptop rather than an iPad, can you check Adriatic. There seem to be about half a dozen vessels around tonight and the iPad is useless for trying to see who or what they are.

What the Sirius video fails to show is the extent of the anchoring required to stabilise the rig...usually four chains and anchors, possibly more. 'King Kenny', for example, is an anchor barge and could take up to a week to lift all chains, anchors and jack-up legs to prepare the rig for towage. This process will no doubt be reciprocated for Ororo. Towage will probably call for two barges, one at the rear acting as a 'brake' and steerage control.
