Hi Bish, I have II and AJBell and neither allow regular investments in SAE (for a cheap rate I mean). Personally I find II much better.
In terms of protection from the tax man if you are a UK resident you can put UP TO £20,000 in a SIPP and any gains are tax free. If you make sizeable money you could sell up to the annual allowance of around £12000 without CGT but you have to account for all your other trades too I assume. You can transfer a certain amount to a spouse or civil partner if you have one.
I am sure other posters can give more comprehensive advice but those are my views on the question.

You could do worse than a SIPP with Hargreaves Lansdowne. Been with them now since 2015. Quite satisfied

Advice please. Personally I see this share as a long term hold and a potential multibagger. I currently have a trading account with II, which seems pretty poor compared to what it wss 10 years ago when i last used it. What would be the best way to hold the shares i hold in SAE for the longer term but allows me to top up when the oportunity arrises and protects me from the tax man, if this does turn out to be a flyer? Any advice is much appreciated.

Thanks for the insights muchshifter. A lot of the excitement around this project is the potential for it to scale massively so this is a good thing for investors to focus on. It sounds like something that has direct baring on how easy it will be to get future conversions approved. My feeling is that local authorities will be receptive to projects like this which will safeguard jobs and bring in substantial business rates for hard up councils but there are no guarantees. It is clearly a far better option than building gas plants or incinerators though.

Thank you clabburn and BEAGRIE for your replies. All I've been able to find is that the ash, which is approximately 20% of the input pellet weight, is expected to go to the original ash tip by road, which is close to the power station. But this tip has at least partly been handed over as a nature reserve area, I believe. Hopefully the pollutants within the coal ash that made approval of its use difficult, in an ideal role as lightweight imported road embankment fill, is less of a problem rather than more with this ash, as coal residue contained heavy metals, but confirmation would have been pleasing.

Muckshifter, my understanding is that the pellets will be delivered by rail and the ash transported out by road, however I do not know its destination or what it will be used for.

I can answer question 1 - natural resources wales have not yet approved the variation. They are still gathering information ahead of making a decision. My best guess is this will come in October. For the second question you would probably need to trawl the information on the public register.

As an ex holder of Atlantis shares who really liked the fact that they were pushing a totally reliable form of renewable generation, but sold out at a profit after realising that the UK government were as short sighted as ever and would not back it, I find the current situation intriguing, and would welcome any information from those here who have been following progress carefully over the last couple of years.

Two questions that I've been unable to find answers to were:-
Has the variation to the existing environmental permit, from burning coal and biomass to the fuel pellets been approved by Natural Resources Wales. I couldn't find anything definite, but assume the change must have been approved or expenditure on the burners and design work would not have progressed?
Secondly, I could find nothing on the disposal of the resulting 20% of input as PFA or furnace bottom ash. Presumably the original coal fired station tip is being utilised, but I could find no details of where it is etc, and my experience of these two materials found resistance to their use as road fill etc. In this context, is the waste PFA "taxed" at tip as inert, and is it still able to qualify?

Sill waiting for my allocation from PB. But I got £50 back from Jarvis yesterday so they've probably given me most of my allocation. Be nice to see them in the PF though

if a local authority is involved i would never underestimate a turn around time for gaining approvals.

Q4 is the suggested target date for permits i believed.

It is waste and put to good use. Removing non recyclable plastics from landfill and utilisng this for low emissions power generation. Could take of globally.
