unfortunately in the current climate, it looks like the market couldnt care less at the actual value of a company, its a bit like the internet bubble again, but in reverse.

This company is cash generative and also remember it is vertically intergrated therefore out of the ground - refind - in to peoples cars - the only uncertain part is that the money goes in to the bank - LOL worth a buy at these prices

Russian stock exchange suspended yesterday following 'rises in market' of 15% - what will happen today - stocks maybe gradually returning to the norm.

I bought some yesterday at £3.10, I thought they were cheap then. I have every cofidence that this share price will be much higher than this in 12 months time. This is one of the safest Russian oil plays since it has the backing of the Moscow state refinery and SHELL !!

This share is now so heavily discounted it has to be regarded as a steal - Everything apart from the current economic panic indicates that we should be trading above the £8.00 figure. One distressed seller isn't likely to have caused this drop. The intimation of SHELL taking a holding to me is quite significant - but - at what price. Bennfield I seem to recall are heavily invested in this from £4.00 and they have confirmed that they are not having any margin calls. The margin of profit that SBE is stated as not having any significant impact on the company no matter what the price of oil is and the demand for oil over the winter periods of all the industrial nations will not decrease.
all imho

I think this may have also been part of the reason for the big fall yestreday.

Sibir Energy plc ("Sibir" "The Company")

Market Update

The Board of Directors of the Company has noted the exceptional decline in the share price
of the Company yesterday. It reiterates that
there is no trading reason for this decline. The Company continues to trade profitably,
benefiting from record crude production, refining
volumes and margins, and is cash generative. The Company refers to the Interim Announcement
made on September 30, 2008.

Apart from general market conditions and the well-publicised decline in the value of
Russian stocks there have been market rumours about
margin calls on Bennfield Ltd ("Bennfield"), the Company's principal shareholder, and its
shareholders in relation to certain facilities
extended by banks and secured on shares of the Company.

Bennfield has authorised the Company to inform the market that neither it nor any of its
shareholders has been the subject of margin
calls. These facilities have been reduced where necessary and are in good standing.

Further announcements will be made as appropriate.

Commenting on the announcement, Sibir CEO, Henry Cameron said: "These are exceptional
times and markets are beset with rumour and
innuendo. We have in this announcement set out that Sibir continues its path forward and we
view its future with enthusiasm. I have no
doubts that the Company will fulfill the promise that I have always conveyed to you and will
do so in real terms irrespective of the share
price and current swings in international stock markets."

This has been on my watch for a while, might wait untill these 'Relatively small' transactions have been completed though...

Sept

Relatively small but important transactions to be concluded this year may require funding
from internal resources as external funding is
now extremely difficult to obtain. This may have a knock on affect on the dividend payment. We
are giving this matter high priority and
should know and announce our intentions before the end of November.

Russian index halved in a month:

Like I mentioned earlier, I would have thought that Sibir was insulated to some extent from the crude price drop since the export tax is adjusted accordingly, thus ensuring a constant gross profit.
Albeit there is short term pain until the next tax adjustment.

Thats some drop today. Have the Americans declared war on Russia?

Might distract from the their financial woes I suppose.

another throwaway sorry.
I bought these at a fiver, dumped them at 480ish, glad i only had a small amount to punt on them.
Having done some research it does look like a good company to be in, but then again so did many others at the time, yet they proved to be donkeys over time.

len16 go and read the FT article on that particular point on Sibir from this week. that will help you understand the political position of the company better instead of making throw-away comments. ta
