Thanks jw330 - some good points there - Shoezone may well need some modernising.

I had a quick look at TheWorks - their profits have been up and down recently haven't they.

Their debt looks substantial too and rising which puts me off.

Let's hope both companies do well!

I hold a chunk here and I like the story. I'm glad you new posters are here by the way.

Until recently SHOE made yearly dividends of between 10p and 19.5p per share!

The BOD have 50% of the shares - they are committed - and I also like the fact that they are entrepreneurial - unlike so many clueless hired-hands in companies elsewhere.

This is my largest holding and it is my conviction stock - if I am wrong it will hurt!!

But, if I am right it will be a significant part of my pension.

Yeah, they have had 50m shares in issue for at least 6 years (I can't see further back on my screens). As mongrels says, family owners will only dilute themselves as a last resort.

Nice bit of value locked up in this one. As soon as this share gets "rediscovered" (and/or some recovery news comes out) the share price should start to move. That's what I'm betting on anyway.

No, there were always exactly 50,000,000 shares, and then they did a buyback of 75,000.

Thanks Mongrels3.

So, previous price levels offer fair and direct comparison. On that basis 100p + of Spring 2020 Covid-crash alone to still be recovered in the share price....

No, i'm pretty certain that they didn't issue more shares. Remember the family owners own a very substantial percentage. I don't suppose they are especially keen to dilute their own holdings...!

I was looking through the news list. Did they issue new shares during covid to strengthen the balance sheet? I haven't found any but I suspect I have missed it?

Agreed Garth, this stock has been left behind. I've built up a decent position here over the past month and happy to hold now. This company appears to have been almost too honest when it has been updating the market (for example when they have been talking about recovery/future potential, upcoming dividends, etc), which for me means that there are stored up positive surprises to come. They don't hype things up - which for me adds to the attraction.

Sim,

For the patient investor the prospect of a return to divi in future years does offer some attraction at this price.

Just starting to take a look following your comment on the SDRY thread.

Yup, Next reporting good sales in first weeks since reopening. But doesn't expect the growth to continue at same pace, and that it is just a temporary surge of pent up volumes.

Decent results from Next. Possibly a slight read across to Shoe with regards to the first few weeks trading after lockdown and forecast for the rest of the year.

Trading update is May 18th. Croc sales are up 606%!! These are high value shoes so this will be good if they bench mark for the 5 weeks from 12th April against 2019 as clearly they were closed last year.

Considering the hybrid formats as well as the big box stores are selling Crocs, Wranglers skechers etc, Like-for-like sales should be well ahead if they compare against 2019 in my opinion as the value per shoe is a lot higher. Average customer spend must be higher a the last report was most people were buying more than one shoe.

The light pink croc accounts for a quarter of all croc sales and i have just looked on shoezone online and theres only 13 left across all the shoe sizes.

Well done dkit666 - SHOE still has it's Sale on, so I guess they are trying to clear some of the stock pile but unlike you, I guess they will not be making a profit on every sale.

Will GLAVEY be refunding those that listened to his deramping rubbish and sold too soon? What a tool. Not a single positive comment on any chat and is wrong most of the time. Clearly not invested anywhere. Poor thing.

Taken from the ABF Iinterim Results Announcement, but hopefully a read across to ShoeZone:

Primark sales after store reopenings demonstrate the relevance and appeal of our value-for-money offering. We are excited about welcoming customers back into our stores as the lockdowns ease and are delighted with record sales in England and Wales in the week after reopening on 12 April.
