Good afternoon Penycae

Nice cable trade but somewhat nerve wracking.

Ref GLEN

I have been watching them for a few weeks and bought a few yesterday.

A mention of 'tapering' and the DOW has a turn. It's become an addict to QE and low interest rates.

I suppose the next 'problem' will be the US Debt level; another kick down the road?

Closed GBP longs (cable and Euro), so the rent is covered for a couple of months. Had a lot riding on those trades, so pleased to be out.
Just got to get GLEN moving for Mrs. P, and she might even crack a smile, let alone a bottle of fiz.

Good day Penycae

The sun shines on the righteous which it was doing here yesterday.

My money was on Dr Finlay....another 'duff' trade.

I was thinking of your cable trades last week. Nuts and vice came to mind.

Many years ago I used to travel up to South London using the M25. It was bad enough then!

EDIT

Your cable long looking good to-day (Monday). Are you expecting resistance at the Daily SMA 200? It does appear to be a regular s/r level. Or are you thinking more like 1.54?

Evening all.
Chucking it down here at The Towers. Gives me an excuse to spend some time in the pit, rather than doing something useful outside.
Wonder who'll be the new Doctor on the tele?
Still holding GBP longs. Eyes watered a bit last week, but I think positions will come good.
Mrs P building quite a stake in GLEN.
Got caught for two hours on the M25 on Friday. Don't know how folk put up with that.

Trade well and prosper Earthlings....

Not really, just been around longer than you and seen the way things are.

==============================================================================

Not a character flaw, we all do it. It's human nature. It takes time to come to terms with it and accept we can't change the past but as you say we can learn from it. You also need to accept that you will probably make the same mistake several times before you realise/accept a change has to be made.

Knowing that the problem exists and that it needs to be addressed is half the battle, the other half is the determination, application and stamina to correct it.

That's enough philosophizing from me to last a few months.

Good evening Bracke & Penycae
Thank you for your posts.

There are many clichés in life.
The clichés become so because they are 'the oft repeated truth'.
Bracke - I think you are a philosophical and wise soul.
I have yet to master putting all my energy in looking forward.

Sorry to read about your plumbing problems. Unfortunately these things happen. All you can do is live and learn and try to employ people who are known to you or known to others whoose opinion you trust.

Morning all.

Got my nifty fifty off that cable long,so not doing anything else today, other than continuing to hold gold and Mrs. P's longs (mainly in GLEN)
Had a really good week, so not risking losing the pot on freaky Friday.

Babywolf - my old Dad told me that there were three species to be avoided during one's lifetime, namely Accountants, Architects and Plumbers. The old man was absolutely right on all counts.
ADVFN is preventing the poor people posting links. I've not tried it, but apparently you now have to be a subscriber to enjoy the full range of benefits afforded by our hosts. They should re-think that, but wtfdik? Glad you like the music, but be careful of any links. I posted one yesterday which screwed up bracke's 'puta.

Good evening Bracke, Penycae

Reassuring to find you here and read your repartee.
Still trapped in the nightmare termed 'renovation' - its got worse and don't see any light at the moment - plumbing was very poor quality - got someone in to look at it who did the usual rubbishing of another man's work through grunts and big sighing emissions - got a 2nd and even a 3rd opinion - have had to do the whole lot again and not on a job cost but time basis - NEVER again. The irony is, one learns an immense amount during the process that is only of use in helping someone else.
Trust you're both well and hopefully trading well.
Has ADVFN stopped links being posted?
Always enjoyed checking out your latest music links Penycae.

Night night.

Computer ok now but I will run clean up programme when I cease trading.

Not had any problems with your previous links.

I have run links since ADVFN changed their policy and after changing the xx's to tt's it works ok.

Don't stop posting the music links I will be more careful in future how I download them.

Two choices

1 Inform Mrs P what you are doing before you do it.

2 Do not let Mrs P know what you are doing. Delete all reference to the site.

Good luck Penycae this message will self destruct shortly!

Another 'nutty' day on the markets. Seems to have been based purely on Bernanke but he surely wasn't going to say anything he didn't say yesterday.

I suspoect it really didn't matter what he said as long as it wasn't too nasty, they just wanted a DOW and S&P All Time High which was achieved.

How and when does it all end!!

bracke - sorry about that. Hope the mess is cleared up. Won't attempt any more music. Seems ADVFN just want to make life less pleasant for us poor people. Shame really. Trading can get a bit boring without shared experience.
Might try one of those on-line dating agencies. I'm sure they let you drop links from You Tube.

Thanks for the gold information.

Looks like cable is heading back up to test yesterdays high?

That explains a lot!

I had thought that his music was far too passionate for a German but your revelation that he was Welsh explains it.

MMmmm... cable long closed itself on a limit 1.5203. Paid the rent, but maybe I should have set the limit a bit higher. Trade closed when I was making some tea. Might be all I want to do today...

Morning all.

Just taken out another cable long. Silly stop as there may be some spikes later on.

bracke - wanted to hold the physical rather than trade on margin, purely to protect the monkey from all the volatility. When they start playing about with gold, the swings are extreme. The physical is stored in a vault by the dealer. Theoretically, it can be withdrawn at any time, but there's more gold being traded than was ever mined, so they normally offer a generous cash settlement if you take the money rather than the metal. The added charm is that you can choose your currency, so if you're clever you can do two trades in one ( buy in pounds/sell in dollars), and reap the rewards of any FX fluctuations. I'll be looking to offload some when it breaks 1300, but there are a few "slap down" days to come.
Bit of POMO today, so hopefully this uptrend will continue.

Ludwig ffan Beethoven. Born in Maesycwmwr, then emigrated - hence the name change. Used to go down a bomb in the Drum and Monkey.

Good afternoon Penycae

That was an excellent cable trade. Monkey will be looking for more than a banana!

Why buy physical gold rather than trade it and in what form do you buy it? I presume you do not have vaults at 'The Towers' in which to keep it.

I notice gold did spike up to-day but just short of 1300.

Mrs P will be pleased......you sure she won't complain?

I've been doing ok with the FTSE trades. I rarely trade fx and have never traded gold.

Im a Beethoven listner by preference but not to the exclusion of other.

Afternoon bracke.

All been fairly quiet lately. No real incentive to post, but must admit I've been getting bored the last few weeks. Closed cable long. Had a very large CFD on that, which was my only margined position. Bought a lot of gold (the physical)the last couple of weeks, from 1200. I'll be looking to off-load some in stages when 1300 goes. Had a bit of spare cash earning nothing in the Bank, so thought I might just as well buy some metal.
Been in and out of GLEN a few times (unmargined) for Mrs. P, and also one largish trade on BDEV, so she can't complain.
Just took a look at GBP/EURO. Might take a long CFD there with a silly stop of 160 or so, just to keep the adrenalin going.
Time for some snappy tunes.......got any good music going?

Good day Babywolf

I suspect most people who undertake a property renovation say "NEVER AGAIN" unless they are doing it purely to make a profit.

At least you will be 'in' by the end of what we refer to as 'summer'.

Shame about the additional move but what does not kill us makes us stroger.........supposedly.

Trading continues on an intraday basis with reasonable success

Hi Bracke Penycae WatteNe

Hope all going ok with you all.

Checking in with nothing really to say other than NEVER AGAIN re renovating an old property.
It's another 2 months before I can move in but unfortunately, the house I've been living in has been sold with new purchasers moving in on Monday. So its yet another move (and moan and groan).

Interesting to see what's been happening and taken aback to see GOLD - last time I checked it was just shy of 1400.

Look forward to read how you are each doing.
Night night.
