Someone has started the following petition which has attracted 1800 signatories in the first week. Help make it go viral!PetitionRestart issuing oil and gas licenses in the North SeaI would like the Government to reverse the policy of not issuing new contracts to search for and extract oil and gas in the North Sea and British waters. We believe the North Sea oil and gas fields are a major part of our economy, and that the drive to net zero is making us colder and poorer. Until we have what we feel is a viable and cost effective alternative in place to oil and gas, we think we should make the most of the resources we have.https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/707101 |

adg: Re: solar: I'm no expert, but I would have thought generating solar energy during the working day is when most power is needed.... (that is why electricity is CHEAPER AT NIGHT). This is also true in winter... Solar power works in winter during daylight: |
Net Britain generates solar power when it’s not really needed and doesn’t when it is That’s one of the root problems with solar |
The UK has the advantage of its summer light goes on to about 10pm.... So yes, its not that bright sun, and winters can be grim but clearly solar works otherwise people will not bung it all over their roofs. 😀 |
Nelly Nel Nielsonhttps://documents.worldbank.org/en/publication/documents-reports/documentdetail/466331592817725242/Global-Photovoltaic-Power-Potential-by-CountryA study by the World Bank into solar power potential of different countries, taking into account hours of sunlight, seasonality, land use, cost, etc. Guess which country comes 249th out of 250? In the whole world, only Ireland is less suitable for solar than the UK....Daily Telegraph |
Q4's this coming Thurs |
heialex1: Currently its sitting in my ISA share account - earning a tiny bit of interest as I look around at various different options.... Its always good to have a reasonable fund of cash to get the benefit of any market corrections etc.. |
Where are you putting the money instead? |
Sold. Sorry I'm out.... Potential cheap oil and the continued global drive to net zero is going to whittle away shell potential.... This alongside peace in Ukraine. If it doesn't it still carries the risk that it will. Either way I can see better investments |
Exxon Mobil Corp is up not down... |
US Oilers up |
Big spike down at the end. Trump wants the oil price a lot lower. Might be time to batten down the hatches. |
